To enjoy softplay?

It seems from threads on here I’m in a definite minority but I don’t mind soft play. I prefer it to the park where I have to stand around. At soft play, I get to sit down, have a drink and maybe a cake, chat to a friend if we’ve done together or chill with my phone if not.

I love kids parties at soft play too; my child is fed and entertained for the price of a gift under £20. Love it.

Surely others out there secretly like soft play?

Took my 3 year old granddaughter to soft play last week. She insists I join her in the tunnels and on the slides. I do it even though I’m overweight and 63 and would much rather sit and have a coffee. Another 3 year old girl followed us around non stop talking and taking over whatever my granddaughter played with. I didn’t mind chatting with her but I could tell she was irritating my granddaughter. Even when we went to the loo she tried to join us. On the way out I said bye to her and the mum said “oh do you come here every Thursday? It would be so nice to come on the same day as you, so they can both play together again”. Erm yeh I don’t think so. We went to the park the week after

I never liked taking mine to the park, either.
I definitely enjoyed soft play.
Cup of tea, plate of chips........
Children occupied for a whole hour.

I'm going back many years because mobile phones hadn't been invented when my children were little, so I took a book to read.

I don't mind soft play, but I'm a hover-mum to a sensitive 3y/o girl, and we both struggle with the wildness of other children so we don't go often and try to pick the quieter slots.
We really like the play centres that have play kitchens/play shops/ doctors/ etc. the quieter kids gravitate in that direction and I can sit nearby without interfering, and she can check in with me without having to leave her play zone.
Then I might treat myself to a little scroll once I know she's found her group for the hour 😂

I hate soft plays because the parents there are often rough. I mean aggressive and unpleasant.

The world is a petri dish... Kids are allowed to be exposed to germs, it does them good!

Airborne germs are fine. A grubby ball pit full of at least one of the many strains of norovirus ... no thanks!

Did you know @pinkpony and @TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis , there are some soft events specially for grown ups?

I would hate to go, but my dh loves this idea and keeps meaning to go to one. He found it got to a point when the kids didn’t need hime in the soft play, so no excuse to go in anymore. It was a sad day when that happened!

Ha ha yes! There is a soft play near us that does this but I’ve never been keen because it’s what I class as one of the “dirty” ones! 🤣

I wouldn’t go as far as to say I miss it but I quite enjoyed doing it with my kids. Coffee was never the attraction.
