Obviously it’s meant to be refrigerated. We have it in liquid form for a child.

its been left out on the kitchen worktop for around 3 hours (because H can’t listen to basic instructions)

is it still ok?

I would think it’s ok, but maybe ring the pharmacy and ask them? They should be able to advise.

sbdv · 03/03/2026 18:29

I would it it was still open but a dose is due soon and they’re closed

I think if your house was fairly cool, ie UK winter and no heating blasting, it should be fine. But what a douche!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 03/03/2026 18:32

There must be a pharmacy open somewhere that you can phone.
Supermarkets very often have pharmacies and they tend to stay open quite late.

Shouldbeworkingnotreadingtalk · 03/03/2026 18:34

It will be absolutely fine.

sbdv · 03/03/2026 18:37

I hadn’t even thought of the supermarket ones! Thank you. I’ll try that

i recently had this question- my DS8 had a course of antibiotics (liquid Flucloxacillin) and we were flying long haul so I was concerned about keeping it refrigerated both on the flight and in the hotel room. GP and pharmacist both told me as the course would be finished within 5 days it was fine not to be refrigerated. Hope this helps!

Amox oxidises to buggery with any moisture. That's why it is filled as a powder and made up into a solution at the pharmacy. It is kept in the fridge to slow down the oxidation. If it's canary-coloured it should be ok; brown is less good. Check with a pharmacist if you're worried.

Your husband should really be the one trying to figure this out and contacting pharmacies.

Totally agree! As per usual a useless man causes a concern and a woman has to be the default parent who fixes his error.

Crikey, I wouldn’t have even given this a second thought for 3 hours out the fridge. I would have just popped it back in the fridge and carried on.
