5 years since Sarah Everard was raped and murdered by a serving Met police officer. I'm not very confident that much has changed for women and girls. Personally i wouldn't ever speak to a male P O, only female ones. I was threatened by a terrifying bloke in Tottenham court road station, i reported it to a TFL staff member as there was a female one at the exit gates and she was brilliant . I wouldn't have spoken to a male, i just don't trust them to take women seriously. I may be wrong but too bad, men need to change a lot before i feel differently probably not in my lifetime. I carry a can of hairspray in my bag as i have encountered too many nasty men on public transport. These men seem to see older women as easy targets who are just in their way. Also did a self defence course, not sure if it will really help but made me feel a bit more confident.

That's your choice.

But please lose the hairspray before it ends up in your own eyes.

Plus the force of the spray really isn't strong enough to do anything except make the perpetrator even more angry.

I am sorry to hear you feel like this, it must be very difficult. I assume you're aware that this opinion is disproportionate and quite offensive to men by assuming that they're all the same? I guess it's no different to developing a phobia/fear or heights or spiders. The difference I suppose is that men are 50% of the population so much more difficult to avoid. Have you considered counselling?
