To cancel UK holiday after watching Dirty Business

I have booked a week away in Devon for partners 50th birthday. Lovely cottage with a hot tub.
However, since watching dirty business I am considering cancelling (will lose 3rd of booking - which isn't money I can easily write off) as I don't feel it's worth risking going on the UK beaches anymore. If my family were to become ill I would never forgive myself.
I am absolutely furious that EA have allowed this kind of corruption to continue for so long. And that the water companies are polluting our rivers and seas at such an alarming rate. How do they sleep at night?

Don't even get me started on the impact to our wildlife.
WWYD?
I have downloaded the surfers against sewage app but genuinely worried to allow my child onto the beach in future after seeing what happened to poor Heather and her family. Considering selling my campervan.

We should be protesting our government, not cancelling British holidays.
Its an appalling situation and one that we as a nation should be ashamed of.

Both.

Why should anyone NOT cancel their holiday if one of their chief holiday pleasures is swimming in the sea and playing in the beach, if it is dangerously polluted?

I take UK holidays but pick carefully based on water quality research . And there are places I would not now go.

I went to go and see "Jo in the water" tonight.

Jo Bateman is from Exmouth and she initiated court proceedings against South West Water for sea pollution "nuisance".

It's a really interesting, uplifting film. Lots of contributions from local people, Surfers against Sewage, River Action, Friends of the Thames. Even Chris Packham is in it.

The website is here: https://www.jointhewater.com/

Her legal action is now opening to other communities along the coast of Devon and Cornwall. So if you live along there or even if you don't, try and watch the film, it's brilliant.

Homepage - Jo in the water

A passionate sea swimmer turned reluctant activist, Jo Bateman takes on one of the UK’s biggest water companies in a David-and-Goliath battle to protect our oceans.
