Has anyone got a holiday booked to Dubai with emirates?

We have a holiday booked for the end of May this year. There is no way we would even consider going now (for obvious reasons). Even if things calmed down, we wouldn’t feel safe or comfortable travelling there.

I have tried to get in touch with Emirates but no-one answers the phone. I have also emailed but had no response. Is anyone else in this situation? What are our rights? we are obviously very relieved not to be stranded there like many others, so it could be worse. However it will definitely be a kick in the teeth to lose all of the money we have paid so far.

thanks xx

We are in the same situation. We have a holiday to Dubai booked for the end of may and the final payment is due next week. I tried to cancel on the Emirates app (and lose my deposit) but the option to cancel has disappeared. I’m happy to lose my deposit and book somewhere else as I know I won’t feel comfortable taking my children to Dubai in May (even if it is ‘safe’). However, £9000 is due to come out of our account next week and I don’t want to lose all that money!

Yes it sounds like exactly the same situation. Have you paid any more than the deposit? We payed more than we needed to as we wanted to chip away at the cost. It seems silly now to have not just put it into a separate account and pay it when the balance was due. It just never crossed our minds that we wouldn’t be going. I’ll keep you posted xx

My 77 yo DM is currently in Australia and due to fly back in 2 weeks with emirates through Dubai. She hasn’t heard anything from them. I think they will only be currently dealing with immediate flights and passengers. But given the major airline they are, I’m sure they will work out reroutes going forward and by May they may have put those plans in place. As for DM, I’m not so sure as two weeks really isn’t far away.

DS and his fiancée were due to go on an Emirates holiday to the Maldives via Dubai this Friday. Emirates rang them on Friday to cancel the whole thing, which they expected. They were given the choice to reschedule which they didn't take due the continuing uncertainty and their leave options or a full refund.
Due to the number of people involved and the fluidity of the situation they appear to be only contacting people only a week or so prior to planned departure.
