Thinking my wrinkles are excessive?

Sophie198643 · 02/03/2026 09:32

Hi. I’m 31 and it seems to be that over the past year I’ve developed so many facial wrinkles and it’s really affecting my confidence. I use face cream every day and even use the facial tape going to bed at night for my frown lines. I’m starting to worry that my partner won’t find me attractive anymore because of how bad my wrinkles are now. Botox isn’t an option as I really can’t afford it. Just looking to see other people’s opinions on it! Am I being unreasonable for thinking these are very severe wrinkles for my age? Thanks so much
edit I don’t smoke or drink alcohol

Do you smoke?

MonsteraDeliciosa · 02/03/2026 09:41

You look lovely. They look like smile lines and you look like a smiley person. That in itself is attractive.

I've known people who have lines on their faces when younger but somehow they didn't look older; older faces have a sagginess and change of texture, too.

I still have very few wrinkles at 57, but look every minute of my age!

Mischance · 02/03/2026 09:42

Please do not waste your life's prime worrying about this! It will be gone before you can blink.

Somethingsnapped · 02/03/2026 09:42

Are you smiling in the first picture op? They don't look like wrinkles to me, but lines from facial movement. So frown lines in the second picture and laughter/smile lines in the first. That's not the same as wrinkles. Frown lines etc would go away if you stopped making those physical movements (obviously you don't need to stop! It's the same for everyone).

Catza · 02/03/2026 09:44

Would you find your partner less attractive because of his wrinkles?

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 02/03/2026 09:44

Factor 50 everyday, enough sleep. And Botox I’m afraid would fix this immediately I would take it out of your clothes or make up budget

PawMaw · 02/03/2026 09:45

Your forehead/between eyebrows is absolutely fine!

My 17 year old has the same lines/little wrinkles on their cheeks when they smile, as have I my entire life (I'm 37) Totally normal, just our face structure. How are they at rest?

Around the eye botox is the best thing for stopping your cheeks from crinkling when you smile but it does change your smile! That would only be 1 area so maybe worth saving for if it does bother you. I only need it once a year as I like movement to come back.

No cream is going to fix anything. Adding HA to your skin care routine and keeping hydrated may help.

But yes you are being unreasonable 🙂 those are not severe for your age.

LollipopLil · 02/03/2026 09:48

They don't look excessive at all to me.

If your partner cant handle a woman ageing, he really should be single.

Plus what do you think is going to happen to his skin?

It's hardly likely to remain peachy for the rest of his life, is it?

I have the cheek wrinkles , doctor said Botox will not do anything you can’t freeze your cheek , crows feet yes.

Confuserr · 02/03/2026 09:49

You have lovely clear even skin BTW.

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 02/03/2026 09:50

Do you wear sunscreen and moisturise daily?

Browharhar · 02/03/2026 09:52

I'm sorry you're feeling bad about this. Trust me, I get it. I'm 45 and feel like each half of my face is ageing differently. It does make you feel self-concious. I feel trapped between wanting it 'fixed' and also knowing I shouldn't feel this way about myself and should feel grateful to age! It's hard knowing there are potential solutions out there, but then it becomes expensive upkeep. If it is affecting your life and self-esteem a lot then there are ultimately two choices: do you want to regularly spend money avoiding ageing, or potentially spend money on counselling to feel more comfortable as who you are in the skin you have? It's a hard choice and there's no judgement from me either way.

do you sleep face down? Maybe try a silk pillow case
I also had a peel in my mid-30s - literally took 10 yrs off my face and still 15 years later my forehead wrinkles are minimal

Ohcrap082024 · 02/03/2026 09:58

How much water do you drink in a day?

What kind of peel?

there are lots of options on the market but I had a green peel (15 years plus ago)

CharlotteRumpling · 02/03/2026 10:24

Tretinoin. It's a miracle.

Weeklyreport · 02/03/2026 10:29

If you're smiling or pulling another expression in your first photo then those aren't wrinkles. If you want to tackle fine lines, retinol in the evening and spf and vit c serum every day. It costs me probably around £20 a month.

BurntBroccoli · 02/03/2026 10:36

Are you smiling in the first picture? Those are normal if so. Your forehead lines are also normal - I bet you have a very animated expressive face?

Due to Botox and many in the public eye having it, it seems we’ve forgotten what faces actually look like.

BauhausOfEliott · 02/03/2026 10:39

But you're smiling in that first photo, right? The lines that appear when you frown or smile aren't wrinkles. That's just the normal movement of your face.

RisingSunn · 02/03/2026 10:48

Korean skincare products - especially NIDA.

Mosaic80 · 02/03/2026 10:53

I think your skin just looks a little dehydrated but it looks a lovely texture, really smooth and even with no pores so I definitely wouldn't worry about it.

If you want to improve a little, I'd use a very gentle balm cleanser with a warm cloth to remove make up and cleanse then try Skin&me or dermatica for tretinoin (night-time only). Then this serum then a very simple but rich moisturiser like this or this. The same in the morning but without the skin&me/dermatica.
