To ask is there ANY deodorant that won’t stain white clothes yellow?

I’m using a “non marking” one from lidl that absolutely is leaving yellow marks. A few claim to not leave white stains (presumably on black) but it is the yellow on white that I really want to avoid? Has anyone found this holy grail? Thank you

I use mum roll on unperfumed. It’s alcohol free and vegan too.

faerylights · 28/02/2026 12:53

Are you letting it dry properly before getting dressed? I've never had yellow stains from deodorant and I just buy whatever's cheapest.

AgentJohnson · 28/02/2026 12:54

It isn’t the deodorant, the yellow comes from the fat in sweat oxidising over time.

I squirt a tiny bit of washing up liquid into the pits of my clothes and soaking in oxygen bleach and hot water.

Honestly no. I usually put on a bit of roll on once I’m dressed.

Really? I don’t sweat much so assumed it must be the deodorant

It’s not the deodorant unfortunately.

Freya1542 · 28/02/2026 13:02

it's the aluminium in the deoderant @Eyefuds

Use aluminium free

eta; for staining info
Key Causes for Staining:

  • Aluminum Reaction: The primary cause of yellow stains is aluminum compounds reacting with sweat proteins and salts.
  • Build-up: Allowing sweat and deodorant to dry on clothes for several days makes the stain harder to remove.
  • Natural Oils/Bacteria: Body oils and bacteria can contribute to the yellowing.
  • White Marks: Caused by applying too much product, which leaves a white, chalky residue.

Can confirm - I don’t normally sweat enough to need deodorant (old age) but ruined a few white tops this way on holiday to hotter shores

Didimum · 28/02/2026 13:03

It’s the aluminium in the deodorant reacting with your sweat. The chemical reaction causes yellow compounds. Use a non-aluminium deodorant.

Eyefuds · 28/02/2026 13:09

Thanks I will try non aluminium and see if that helps

It’s the sebum (body oil) that’s oxidising. It’s why pillowcases, shirt collars, white sheets etc can turn yellow. Squirt with washing liquid into the pits of clothes immediately after removing, this will break down the sebum. Squirt hydrogen peroxide (3%) after to combat any yellowing. If clothes are already stained then hydrogen peroxide (3%) will remove the discolouration.

cramptramp · 28/02/2026 14:47

I’ve never had yellow stains from deodorant. I always use a roll on if that makes any difference.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 01/03/2026 15:18

I use Wild deodorant and it doesn’t seem to leave stains

PashaMinaMio · 01/03/2026 15:23

I use a solid stick men’s antiperspirant. Dove or similar from B&M Bargains, whatever I can get. Special offers etc.

I’ve never had stains, ever, under the arms.

IF you smoke, I know for a fact that nicotine in your system will get sweated out & will stain.

dementedpixie · 01/03/2026 15:28

A non aluminium deodorant will not be an antiperspirant so it wont stop you sweating.

Cabinfever20 · 01/03/2026 15:30

Watching this with interest as my husband’s shirt armpits stain terribly. Where can I get hydrogen peroxide? I’ve tried vanish stain remover and a special Dr Beckmann for sweat stains which doesn’t really work.

dementedpixie · 01/03/2026 15:56

If they're white shirts you could try this spray

You need an aluminium free deodorant. The aluminium reacts with proteins in your sweat. Use an aluminium free deodorant and put it on before you get dressed and leave to fully dry

AzureFinch · 01/03/2026 20:50

It's urea in your sweat. The stuff that makes your wee yellow

Tortephant · 01/03/2026 21:33

I use Berthe Guilhem from French Soaps or Alum stone. Never had an issue with either.

17to35 · 02/03/2026 11:31

HG deodorant remover or deo-go but that might have been banned as it works so well.

NurseButtercup1 · 02/03/2026 11:40

I use MITCHUM Women 48H Roll-On Clear Fresh Invisible AND MITCHUM Women 48H Aerosol Clear Fresh Invisible. Yes I know it's excessive, but I work 12hr shifts and menopausal and it's the only combination that helped me to stop smelling sweaty.

Anyway never had a problem with yellow marks on clothes.
