This u16s social media ban means every adult using social media is at risk of identity theft

So please just manage your own kids instead please?

(Unless the plan is to criminalise parents who allow children to access social media, that's fine)

I dont get your logic

Userxyd · 27/02/2026 06:00

Cod kids will use their parents ID to get online do you mean?

Orangepate · 27/02/2026 06:04

Seeing the damage that SM is doing to our kids, that is absolutely a risk I would be willing to make.
Are you under 16 yourself OP?

Ferro · 27/02/2026 07:12

It’s the flip side of banning it for kids.

It means every adult who wants to use it will need to upload ID.

When your data gets leaked, criminals will have your details and passport and selfie.

And this isn't hypothetical - ID verification companies have already been breached with millions of people's ID compromised.

There’s quite literally NO argument for allowing under 16s on social media. The OP confirms it 😂

Sorry, I do not follow your line of thought on this.

In order to exclude the under 16s you will need to show ID to a third party provider to use social media, potentially every time you log in. If that third party is hacked or leaks your data you would be at risk of identity theft.
