To not want to review every bloody interaction I have..

Im sure it’s been covered before but this culture of emails asking you to review a business or service after every minor interaction is driving me mad. And the ones you get at every stage after placing an order. Why do companies do it? Just an order confirmation with an expected delivery date would suffice. Instead a blow by blow account of the process of getting said item from the internet page to my postbox seems to be required. Does anyone here work on this field and can explain why it’s a thing?!

Oh yes! Dh was just saying yesterday he’s sick of constantly being asked for feedback.

I got an email asking me to review my recent purchase. As my purchase was still showing to be dispatched even though I had ordered it over a week prior and it was next day delivery. I left a review. They said they can’t publish that review 😂My purchase suddenly changed to dispatched after my review.

NHS ones are annoying and unsettling when you are waiting for results.
Dh has had some tests recently as not well so was scared really to get a message 2 days later saying there was a new letter on the app as assumed it was bad news but it was simply to review his recent visit to a&e!

This is a real problem. My DM has terminal cancer & the last thing she wants to do is review every hospital apt she attends yet these letters & emails bombard her after every one..& there are a lot of apts. They should stop this immediately especially for terminal patients. It’s a waste of nhs time & resource & only serves the pen pushers not the patients.

Hard agree.

Terrible for the environment and terrible for the mental load.

Agree

Shall we all write to the Health Secretary and say those emails should be stopped for everyone? I bet he doesn't even know they get sent.

@EmeraldRoulette I’d happily do that.. we need to start a campaign! Who could we get to highlight this to the media?

Not sure

Who is an influencer in health?

I think a lot of people don't realise how distressing it is unless it actually happens to them. like they have regular appointments or major issues - that probably hasn't happened to the majority of people. So there might be an element of "what's the point of that?" But the bigger issue is the obsession with data at the expense of the needs of the individual

In this case, I can't even see how useful the data would be, even planning to sell it on or whatever - I may be missing something but it doesn't seem like quality data. It seems like stuff that feeds into a KPI report.

welshpolarbear · 27/02/2026 09:57

I have had so many letters I’ve had to go into to check my hospital appointments it’s ridiculous. The other day I counted 22 since January. All for one appointment! Changing it ten mins here and there. Aargh!!

Also, re reviewing. I despise that insurance companies want a review because you’ve bought a policy. Seriously , that’s not how it works. I’ll review if I ever have to claim! No wonder loads of them have top reviews if all people are reviewing is the buying process!

This absolutely needs to change. My elderly mum has been bombarded. They takes weeks to arrive. In between she gets phone calls and then she is all confused. On top of that they keep telling her to the NHS app and she can't..I'm not local to her so can't do it for her..it's a mess.

igelkott2026 · 27/02/2026 16:00

It's so tedious isn't it. I just delete them and then two days later I get another one. And then this morning I had one saying "dear Igel, we've noticed you haven't filled in our survey". AAAAGH. Go away. It's not as if they really care, if you try to contact any of these companies they make it as difficult as they possibly can.

igelkott2026 · 27/02/2026 16:02

They also just send them out indiscriminately. The companies send them after you've bought something, so (sort of) fair enough.

But this morning I had a text from m GP surgery asking me to review something. I've not been near my GP for getting on for a year! Why on earth ask me?

I don’t think you need to read them.

You need to read them to find out that you didn't need to read them - unless you have some sort of super cyber powers. 😉

And the emails checking how stuff was delivered! When I've already given 5 stars for promptness, delivered to correct address etc, there's something like, 'What did you particularly enjoy about the delivery?' I have come to really enjoy these, and am becoming quite imaginative; on one I said that I appreciated the mariachi band that the courier engaged. On another I said that the courier had very kindly taken my washing in as it was raining.

Im so doing this now.....

Yes! You have to open a lot of these emails to check if they're anything important.

If I order something, I would like:

1 email confirming the order
1 email saying when they will deliver.

I don't need:

an email confirming the order
an email that they're thinking about dispatching it
an email that they have dispatched it
an email from the courier that they are expecting it
an email from the courier that they've now got it
an email saying when they will deliver
an email saying they've delivered
5 emails asking me to rate it
umpteen marketing emails until I unsubscribe again

Agreed.
I delete the unnecessary ones.

I also unsubscribe if there is that option once the goods have been delivered.

I don't rate stuff or fill in questionnaires after delivery.

God hasn't smote me down yet.
