Police were called to the Manchester Central Mosque after two men 'armed with an axe and a knife' entered the building during Ramadan prayers.

Very worrying, glad no one appears to have been hurt.

How is it not terror related? If this was another religion it would be.

Well of course is it, but generally speaking when the terrorist is white it is described as a mental health episode or a lone wolf episode due to his partner leaving him or something similarly absurd. The above mitigations are never afforded to non white men.

No violence was threatened. No one was attacked.

Ergo, not a terrorist attack.

Why was one arrested and the other being apprehended if they were just workmen? The spokesperson made a statement saying people should not travel alone and women and children should be extra vigilant.

Workmen carrying tools into the mosque, was it? Including an axe? On the off chance the mosque needed something chopped up in the middle of prayers? I wonder why the police have still got one of them detained in that case then, as surely he just needed to explain this perfectly normal everyday behaviour, and then apologies all round for the misunderstanding.

For what it's worth, I don't blame the mosque at all for calling the police
But it really is much ado about nothing in this case

Breaking news - workmen sometimes carry tools that they might not need. It’s called a tool bag.

People don't want it to be an attack. People want to understand if it was an attempted one that posed a risk to the Muslim community.
Just because nothing 'actually happened' doesn't explain why two men entered a mosque with a bag of tools that could be used as lethal weapons, for reasons as yet unknown.
If they were simply workmen there on their rightful business this would have become apparant quite quickly. So clearly they weren't. So, just as we wouldn't wait for a unknown person dressed in a white coat walking round a children's ward to actually harm a child before we considered it an 'event', it seems reasonable to await an explanation for the 'workmen's' presence before we decide it was a 'non event', or simply an aborted one.

It was two workmen with a tool bag who didn't do anything to anyone. No threats. Nothing at all. Police going OTT to show that they care.

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a section 18 assault, and he remains in police custody for questioning.

I wonder why they are not referring to it is a terror act considering the arrest in under section 18. Perpetrators must be white and in time we'll hear of their traumatic event that caused them to do this 'incident' rather than attack.

What I think OP is wanting to say is a huge thank you to the police for responding so quickly to the mosques call to them for help when very concerned.
OP would no doubt like to add that with terrorism, the majority of victims globally have been Muslims, murdered by Muslims who consider themselves to be better than them.

You have no idea what trade they are in. It is perfectly possible they need both of these item.
