Corn advice!

Posting in AIBU because I don’t know where else there would be much traffic on a Wednesday evening!

I’ve got a corn on the right hand side of the ball of my right foot, can feel it when I walk, skin around is hard, and it’s got a little white middle (certain it’s a corn, not a verruca). Wouldn’t be so bad but I’m off to do my Duke of Edinburgh on Sunday and do a millions steps around Disney so to be honest the timing could have been better 😂

First time I’ve had one so looking for remedies. Called in Boots after work and got some corn plasters with salicylic acid in them - one plaster to be kept on for 2 days then changed. Problem is these were for toes, so I’m now on to my third new plaster and the others kept falling off as I was walking (and that was with a sock, too!). However, can see that they are working thankfully.

Any ideas on other treatment? Don’t fancy a fresh plaster every 2 hours!

Don’t whatever you do try to cut it with a corn knife, I did that and the blood was unreal and still had the corn!

Put the corn pad on then use a plaster to hold the pad in place.

Podiatrist will sort it out in a jiffy.

You are welcome @merryandbrightdelight . I'd try the soluble aspirin. Not tested though.
The plaster I was thinking of was the one you cut to size.
Good luck with the DoE.

I use cuticle nippers to cut my corns out, i'm on my feet all day and would have to spend a fortune if i got a professional to do it. I've never bled, the dead skin has no feeling so i just don't cut any areas i can feel. It's very satisfying!

Podiatrist will remove in about 5 mins. Get an appointment booked. No messing.

I had the most painful corns on both my small toes. Tried all sorts to get rid of them but eventually tried compeed corn plasters and they vanished, never to return.

FeelingLost65 · 25/02/2026 20:37

Podiatrist. I tried the acid etc and it got so badly infected and my foot exploded. I had to wear an orthopaedic shoe! Now I get mine removed every couple of months and it is a life saver. Never ever use plasters.

RoxytheRexy · 25/02/2026 20:50

Book a podiatrist. Mine annoyed me for months and took her 5 minutes. Dont know why I waited so long
