Mmmm - I doubt if I would let my 11yr old go on a sleepover midweek, never mind a 5yr old.

DS went on a sleepover a couple of weeks ago (Sat night) when he came home on the next day he was in a foul mood because of lack of sleep - in fact I sent him up to his room to lie on his bed and relax.

So in answer to your 2nd question, no, you are not behind the times and if anyone is a miserable fart - tis me

I was pretty amazed that the other Mum was up for it actually and I think she was shocked when I said no but I would pick him up after tea.

YANBU I'd not let mine sleepover on a school night and they're 10 and 8 (the other two are too young for sleepovers any night!)

bellavita · 16/06/2008 15:00

FWIW - I do have an 8 year old and I would have serious doubts about him sleeping over at someones house on a weekend never mind a weeknight.

I've got teenagers and don't let them do sleepovers midweek unless it's school holidays. yanbu

Hulababy · 16/06/2008 15:02

YANBU.

No sleepovers on a school night here.

CaptainUnderpants · 16/06/2008 15:05

I found the whole request totally bizarre.

YANBU. It would be fine if it was a sleepover but sleep is the last thing they do!!

Twiglett · 16/06/2008 15:17

no sleepovers on weeknights unless urgent
