In thinking that trainers don't need dolls in the sole?

Went to buy dd(4) trainers in an independent shoe shop. The only ones they had to fit were the Clarks ones with the lift up flap with the doll underneath. I don't see why dolls in the shoes have anything to do with running around and being fit, or am I missing something? The fitter agreed...even my dd agreed. (Girls at school have the school shoes with doll and the flap has broken for 2 of them, and the doll is soooo tiny it gets lost).

We went elsewhere and found some without the doll

dd1 would love those

I have regretted not encouraging the Doll in the Heel last September, dd2 has minded being the Only Child in school without the Doll in Heel ever since. I have promised that the next school shoe will have the doll.

I am sure my sister had some school shoes with a magic key in them. Don't think the key came ut though - you could just see it.

i won't be buying another pair of doll in the heel shoes as the doll in the heel shoes don't wear well, dd1 has slow growing feet and hers are now 6 months old and the bit you lift up to get the doll out now ruckles (sp) up and dd is complaining hat they her the bottoms of her feet.

Both dd (7.5) and I were completely weirded out by doll-in-heel shoes - hated the idea of treading on a "person" as you walked around. (It was such an immediate reaction by us both I'm surprised I haven't seen it mentioned already here.)
