To wish Angeliki good luck fighting the anti women party

. Local Gorton and Denton candidate Angeliki is angry about this ingression into her community and I can understand it completely. Supporters of the candidate include his campaign manager who is into Andrew Tate, a person stating ' I'd never touch a Jewish woman' and Yaxley Lennon who compromised the prosecution of grooming victims. To date Reform have failed when challenged to reject these supports and it appears they are incapable of doing so presumably because they rely on them . It falls to Labours deputy Lucy Powell to call them out. She has written a letter supporting Angelikis points.
Perhaps if they spent a bit less time talking down to young women about fertility?
I would centre Angeliki here. That is not an easy fight or a pleasant one

Did you watch the hustings in the church. A member of the public asked.

given we have the supreme courts verdict on what a women is, do you accept the decision and that it’s now a closed issue.

he asked the panel to raise hands if agreee

reform agreed

labour, greens and liberals kept hands firmly on laps. That’s your protector.

also for those wishing to go back into EU the parliament voted that Trans should be included in any women’s legislation. That’s nice.

This is such a tedious statement. I'll go with whoever ensures I can get a divorce if I need to, doesn't threaten my reproductive rights, and doesn't force me or my daughter to procreate. Reform are full of Heritage Foundation sycophants, far right raging misogynists who cannot stand women striving for equality. So, begone with your purity tests and focus on what matters. I don't want to be thrown back into the 19th century. I will NEVER vote Reform.

Well the first thing that strikes me about that is the idea that the solution is to vote Reform I find it suspicious that women are not allowed to have political opinions that don't end up in this rabbit hole. So I refuse to go down there. As it were.
It's a form of shutting down speech.
Do you have a view on the statement ' I wouldn't touch a Jewish woman'
Or ' women need to be educated about biology'?

I think that posters who insinuate we need a 'protector' can't be much of a feminist in the first place. Dead giveaway.

Reform hate trans people more than they hate woman. That's all it is.

I would rather work with any of the others (even though I don't agree with their views on this issue).

No-one has to vote Reform or for any other right wing party.

Support for the legal rights of women to same-sex spaces, and support for the Supreme Court judgement in FWS, and women’s rights generally, is particularly strong in the actual left wing. You just have to clamber over the rotten remains of the brains and ethics of Labour, the Lib Dems and the Greens.

See, for example, the Communist Party and the Young Communist League, as reported in the Morning Star.

Weird some of these feministic comments. Seems strange that many strong women are supporting Reform.

obviously everyone can vote the way they wish but to be aligning to a party that wants men in women’s changing rooms and sports. Wow.

the reproduction issue is that we used to be a 2.4 size family and now it’s 1.8/9 which means we are a declining population.

seems illogical to hate Reform for being misogynistic when the others want open borders for people that have no regards for women at all.

But if you’re in a Reform Rabbit hole, just look at the others with a critical eye rather than rose coloured glasses because you dislike some men on the other party.

we have Labour smeared with grooming gangs scandals and paedophiles links everywhere you look.

we have greens with a leader that had a career telling women he could grow their boobs with hypnosis. Also now have the Muslim vote that Labour held.

liberals well who are they!

Anyway have a great day everyone.

Well I can't disagree with that- Who is the Heritage foundation?

They are the Christian right think tank that have been gaining huge influence on the Republican party over the last decades (starting with Ronal Reagan), but never more so than under MAGA in the last 10 years. Their agenda is hair-rising. If you want to educate yourself on the matter, the Lincoln Project channel on YouTube features excellent interviews with an expert on Christian nationalism who has been combing over Project 2025 (and now the 2026 agenda). Why is this relevant to us? Because they have allies across far right conservative/populist parties all around Europe. It's not just Evangelicals by the way, there are quite a few traditionalist Catholics who adhere to their agenda.
MAGA is deeply influenced by those people and MAGA openly supports Reform.
Have you not noticed the number of US flags and crosses at the Unite the Kingdom march? Anyway... there's a lot out there if you look for it.

TheAutumnCrow · 16/02/2026 12:55

I’d like to chuck out all of the ideological nutjobs from UK politics whose anti-women luxury beliefs originate in North America. In that category, alongside anti-abortion religious leaders and their supporters, I am including Po-Mo lunacy and Judith Butler’s type of 3rd rate ‘philosophy’ that has led to gender ideology, ‘gendered souls’ and body-altered children & young people.

I don’t want any of it.

I struggle to believe the voters of Gorton are afraid to go outside, as Angeliki claims. Manchester is not full of scaredy cats hiding behind lace curtains, ime- down to earth types getting in with it, more usually.

StandFirm · 16/02/2026 22:14

This tragedy in the US shows us exactly what's in store if we're stupid enough to let reactionaries into power:

She was talking to interfaith women. If you are sceptical about Angeliki or the women A quick Google on AI suggests this is a real thing reflected in crime rates.

Seems the image is under review but you can Google race crimes stats, in that area.

Honestly I struggle to watch these stories. It's quite horrific to think that there are undoubtedly men who want to push in that direction.

But I think that maybe people here don't associate the religious extremes in the US with us in the UK. I do see that to a certain extent I tend to think we have got a cut off. I don't think Farage and co are likely to convince anyone they have found Jesus and Id like to think we have a healthy scepticism here about religions control of women agenda. Christianity is often flexible here in it's approach to the family and women. I think that's a real strength of the UK.
Isn't it so important that we realise what we have got here and have the confidence to assert it?
