Sorry to ask here…posting for traffic. I thought about posting in craicnet but it never seems busy enough.

We are thinking of moving to the rep of Ireland. Not Dublin. Will more than likely be Cork, Kilkenny, Waterford area. I’m just looking for those of you there. What is your income vs expenditure for a family of 4(primary school dc)? I would like to gauge what we need to budget for over there. We have no family left living there anymore otherwise I would ask.

thanks a mill.

Some people will have loads of money, spend loads of money and have loads left. Some will earn very little, spend very little and have little left. Others will fall somewhere in between.

Does that help?

@Cherryred2 I’m in Ireland

total income is approx 4200-4600 (depends on our overtime)
child benefit is 280 per month (2 dc)

the main household bills are
mortgage is 1961
house/life insurances 150
electric 150-200 depending on the month (5bed house)
broadband (fibre fast speed) 45
mobile phones are 20 per month each (though I’m sure you could get a bit cheaper)
waste collection 25

we budget 500 per month for food shopping and that works for us (I don’t think you could do it for less tbh)

everything else would be within your control budget wise I suppose

In terms of school there’s usually a ā€œvoluntaryā€contribution of 40 per child (well that’s my DCs school)

I can’t speak on childcare but we use an afterschool service that is subsidised also so it costs us approx 50 per week for up to 10hours. School finish is 2:20 and I collect at 4:45 latest. But they are open til 5:30. Again that is school dependent, it’s not a given.

HTH

Oh and if you buy a house you will have a one off payment of local property tax which is dependent on the value of your house. Mine is 462 for example.

Local Property Tax is an annual charge, isn’t it?
