To think Vinted need to introduce some pop up warnings about fake goods?

Let me start by saying that I like Vinted and will continue using it. BUT I am quite online/scam savvy and I can immediately spot dodgy sellers.

This morning my “recommended to you” was flooded with supposedly different sellers all selling the same type of designer bag. These sellers had positive reviews but I could immediately see it’s a scam. (The positive reviews would have been generated by selling low value items between accounts controlled by the same person or similar.)

it’s clear to me that if Vinted struggle to control this, they should at least have some pop up warnings to people about the potential scams???

They use to ask for feedback do they still?

I hate hearing about businesses that rake the money in but put the money into customer service.

Serve them right if nobody bothered. People get greedy.

80% of the app would be a pop up warning 😂

It's a big fence for stolen good and counterfeit rip offs.

I've reported fakes many times and not once have they taken action.

Their business model and customer service was designed for genuine ordinary people buying and selling secondhand clothes, and they haven’t developed adequately for what the app has become. I think you just have to take the buyer beware approach with every transaction just as you would if you were buying at a secondhand store, a car boot sale, from eBay or Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree etc.

But at some level pop-up warnings are also impractical: where is the line drawn about what brands should attract a pop-up potential scam warning? Louis Vuitton and Chanel - most people would say obviously. But what about higher end but not “designer” brands like Woolrich, Barbour, Doc Marten, Nike which are also commonly faked? Or just pretty run of the mill brands which make higher end items which are commonly faked (leather goods faked with PVC, down-filled jackets faked with polyester, premium sportswear)? Half the listings would end up with a pop-up.

Loads of fakes on there. I agree that they should do more, especially as it’s glaringly obvious!

You want to see a pop up from Vinted every time you log in to say "Be careful. Some of the stuff for sale here is fake",? There isn't a business on the planet that would agree to that!
