To wonder, what happens to the kids who aren’t very nice, but are the teachers pet???

My DD(12) is really struggling with a boy not being nice to her, who instigates for others to get involved in picking on her. We are helping her through this, but the boy is in her class and all the teachers adore him. He is favoured by most of them. I know this to be true as I previously worked in his school and he is so bubbly and friendly to the teachers, but in reality, it’s an act. Or the way he treats others when the teachers aren’t there is an act.

I remember this sort of character from my own school years, but I’ve moved far away from where I grew up, and don’t know how any of these people turned out. DD feels upset that he is the blue eyed boy. And I understand that, given what she’s dealing with. Do these children ever get found out? Or do they just carry on being deceptive like this and it flying under the radar?

I think they just hone those skills of being liked and go on to do well in the workplace.

Or they learn to adjust their personality to fit in, like everyone else.

Yellowhair · 05/02/2026 18:24

I think they remain like that. There are definitely people in the workplace like this. Would throw you under a bus to gain a bit of advantage, all smiles. I can vividly remember two dc like this in DD’s year. Both were unpopular by about year 10.

So they just get to pretend to be nice, to the face of authority figures, whilst not being nice to their peers, and life somehow rewards that? I just really feel for DD, who today was called a bitch by this boy, in front of lots of her year group.

Sorry your dd is being bullied. The school should be dealing with this. Did she speak to someone about the name calling today?

Sadly the little sociopath will probably grow up to be a CEO, some people always seem to land jam side up in life 🙄

I'm not so sure. We had a kid like that at secondary school, always thought his parents put him into our school as some sort of social engineering experiment. They were way too posh and when the crunch came at 14 to pick options he was moved to an independent school. But the last time I saw him he was flogging photocopiers for a two bit business that folded not long after.

It’s infuriating isn’t it. We had a family with a couple of dc like this at our school. Beautiful table manners, thank you very much for having me Mrs H. Absolutely hideous behaviour with their peers. Relentless bullying. Teacher was totally hoodwinked by it.

Crochetandtea · 05/02/2026 23:23

These are the narcissists who walk amongst us. They are difficult to distinguish when they are at school as they know how to play the teachers.
Your child is being bullied by this boy so please go and speak to the teachers. Keep a record of his behaviour every day. Note everything down. If they know what he does when they’re not watching, they will be more aware of what behaviours to look out for.

Crochetandtea · 05/02/2026 23:25

Little fucker! Children are often afraid of these little psychopaths so they’ll pretend to be their friend so they don’t become a target. Sometimes I despair of the human race. Even at primary school the arseholes will walk over others to get ahead.

I had a manager like this - and any time it seemed like she was about to be found out she either moved teams or got promoted 🙄

BendSinister · 05/02/2026 23:59

But have you raised this with their teacher?
