I am in a bit of a rut. I am currently in my first year of BSc forensic psychology with the Open Uni. I’m now not entirely sure that I want to pursue a career as a forensic psychologist, due to extreme competition in getting into the doctorate, gaining necessary experience and the complicated route!
I’m weighing up my options between -
Veterinary Surgeon - I currently work with animals, and if I change my degree to something more focused on science, I can apply to the BvetMed Graduate Accelerated course!
Detective - I would join via the direct entry route, it doesn’t matter what degree I have. It feels like almost an easier route into the same sort of work as a forensic psychologist, without the almost a decade of studying and training!
Paediatric Nurse - The ‘softer’ direction, I love children and am very good with them, and I’ve kind of always had an urge to work in this sort of sector. Not sure if the current state of the nhs is something I’m willing to enter though.
Please give me your personal experiences in these roles, and any advice!

Unless you already have a strong science background and extensive work experience (not sure what your work with animals is, but it's needs to be varied) I'd rule out vet med. Plenty of people do a bsc in animal science and think they can then just hop across to vet med. It's still hugely competitive, and as you'll be doing a second undergrad degree your fees will be huge.

Also having been a vet, I wouldn't recommend it.
