To not buy new kitchen over a tap

DW and I are close to pulling the trigger on a £30K kitchen. Spent last month back and forth agreeing specifics.

A few days ago DW saw on their FB page a deal for new customers in Feb to get a free £1K Quooker tap if they spend min £15K on a kitchen.

We then sent an email to chase up our kitchen stuff and asked if we’d get the tap since the sale will likely go through in Feb.

They said it’s for new inquiries and as we inquired late Dec we wouldn’t qualify for the tap.

At this point in time we’ve not paid a deposit, or signed anything and they’ve spent significant time designing our kitchen. All that effort will be for nothing if we decide to walk away.

Surely it’d be worth throwing this tap in so not to risk losing the sale? I’m not fussed about the tap tbh but part of me is a bit annoyed because we’re spending over double the money needed to qualify for the free tap and the sale will now be finalised in Feb, the qualifying month.

would you push back and insist on getting the tap if you were in my position?

Yes, I would, because that would really leave a sour taste and would impact how much I enjoyed my new kitchen.

Take your design to another kitchen company, I bet they can get something pretty close for less with that tap included.

I’d tell them that’s perfect, take the plans and get whoever didn’t make the original December enquiry out of you and DW to make one in Feb 😂

Thats a bit cheap on their end, honestly for customer satisfaction when you’re spending double it would be such an easy thing for them to do! It’s not like you’re spending bang on the qualifying amount, or have already had the kitchen installed.

DarkForces · 31/01/2026 06:26

I absolutely would tbh. I'd be so annoyed I'd rather go elsewhere than pay them £30k. I know it'd impact my enjoyment of my kitchen. You've gone the hard work of design so you could get another company to do the work now.

Yes I would take the designs you have so far to a couple of other suppliers and get the alternatives priced up. Let this supplier know that you're not committed to them just because you made contact in December and they clearly have the power to sweeten the deal and are choosing not to so clearly don't want your custom that much.

Yes they’ve designed it all but been very guarded about it. So they created a PowerPoint style slideshow that showed every angle of the kitchen with all the bells and whistles. We don’t have a copy of obvious reasons and she puts it in the tv and we flick through it at every appointment.

again we’ve handed over no money and. It signed a thing so the sales assistant would have don’t a few dozen hours for nothing.

also surely sales is somewhat of a dark art and rules are bent and sweeteners thrown in all the time.

Are you not getting any deals already? They always seem to offer incentives, we got a'free' cooker for example. The next month it may have been something different. But we wouldn't expect to get that too. If you are not getting anything then totally pull out, otherwise you might be cutting off your nose etc.

Glitchymn1 · 31/01/2026 06:37

What deals did you get?

We also got designs from two places though so I'm not sure they really care that much about the time spent, a lot of people must do that.

I would definitely tell them I'll go elsewhere in that case.

Nope they’ve offered no incentives so far. Except a deal on neff appliances getting £1000 cash back if bought in Jan. however the online deal about the quooker tap also said you could get £1000 cash back for neff as well. So the neff thing is like a dfs continual offer.

Anytime we brought the price down slightly it was substituting items to lesser ones.

I did ask what can she do on price as if I buy a car I don’t just accept the price stated. However she has always advised to switch something rather than say ok I’ll knock a further x amount off if u buy.

Apart from the neff cash back offer which the folk that inquire in Feb to get the quooker will also get.

were getting an extension and need a new kitchen so basically came in off the street to this place. We weren’t incentivised by online offers or suggested sale offers. We came in and said we need a new kitchen next year due to a house project can we chat to you about what we want etc….

Surely if customers are lining
up outside the door there is no need to offer such deals?

would the sales rep really not be bothered about failing to seal a £30K deal?

as I say we’re really close to purchasing and DW has just shrugged and said she doesn’t care about the tap. But perhaps we’re giving off that impression that we’ll buy with little resistance on not getting the tap

Not really the point, but I'm always hearing about problems with Quookers, I don't think I'd want one anyway.

Not lightly but we like the product a lot. We’ve reduced the price by changing things but they’ve not give a comprehensive breakdown or every costing, which we requested, so it’s difficult to price compare everything .

it’s a large 7x7m kitchen with a 3.5m island so 30K seem reasonable when others we know spent similar for a lot smaller kitchen
