To not know where to go for a 2 night break in half term

I am usually so organised with holidays, but I have had a bad start to the year with illness and am now realising Feb half term is just around the corner! Aside from not having anything booked, I also cannot seem to find anything good to book 🤯

l live in north east, have three kids (12/9/4) and am only looking for a short break of 2-3 nights. Don’t want to travel more than 3hrs by car, need somewhere that has something for us to amuse ourselves and that is suitable even if weather is shite. I am really struggling with ideas.

So not a true AIBU - as I clearly am unreasonable to ask for other people to give me ideas - but I desperately need them!! Am having a mind blank of where to go/do. Please provide some inspiration 🤞

Liverpool?
Edinburgh?

York? Quite a few museums close to each other so not much walking if it’s bad weather but there are lots to do outside if it’s good weather.

That’s not a bad shout. I didn’t think Alton towers was open in winter but completely forgot about their water park!

You get a waterpark day and a CBeebies land day on their short breaks

Legoland? Or is that too far away?

Would love Legoland but we are Newcastle so it would be too far in car for the kids for 2 night break.

Northumberland somewhere? Wintery walks not too far away and loads to do.

This is what we’re doing - have been to the water park before, both our 10 and 15 year old boys love it

Does Flamingland still have a caravan park? (Is Flamingoland still open?).

I stayed there for a week when I was 18 but that was a long time ago.

Warwickshire? There's lots to do indoors and out - castle motor museum, Stratford, national trust places.
