To get a nose job?

I’ve always hated my nose and then last year I broke it, so as well as being too big and having a bump in it, it’s also wonky. Not terribly wonky but not great either.

I would love a nose job, but at the same time I wonder if there’s any point, I’m mid forties now and I’ve put up with a terrible nose this long. I’m also worried that I might end up hating the results and regretting it. I am pretty antisocial, my long term partner still finds me attractive, so it would very much be something I’m doing for myself.

I wouldn’t be able to pay for it outright but I’ve checked and I would be eligible for low interest finance and the repayments wouldn’t be a problem.

Am I mad to even consider it at my age?

Hey OP, I totally know how you feel.

I’ve always hated my nose and any picture that captures my side profile I absolutely hate. It’s got a bump in it that looks very noticeable from the side but not from straight on. I got bullied terribly about my nose at secondary school so it’s something that has impacted me and I’ve always felt so self conscious.

Ive thought about a nose job so many times but I’m also terrified of it going wrong. I also wondered how it would impact my nearly teenage daughter if I bang on about body acceptance to then go and have surgery to correct something like this. It’s so hard to know what the right thing is.

I was looking into non surgical nose jobs as I remember someone from Made In Chelsea had one done by this guy and I thought it looked great (I know she probably got it for free) https://drmotox.com/pages/non-surgical-nose-job

I guess with non surgical nose jobs you’d have to keep having them redone and think it would be quite weird when it morphs back into your usual nose.

If it’s something that’s bothered you for so long then I think do a lot of research into surgeons and results, not sure if there is some kind of nose jobs community where you could ask for recommendations and ask for honest opinions before you make a decision?

I’ve also always hated my (massive) nose, and used to fantasise about getting a nose job as a teenager. Then, when I was 25, I had a sinus operation that included the nose being straightened (it was twisted where I broke it as a child) JFC it was so painful, and when they had to remove the padding the next day….. it was 30 years ago and still makes me wince. That put to rest any thoughts of elective surgery, and the good news is that now I’m post menopause, I couldn’t care less about my nose or any other flaws. Hang on a few years is my advice 😂

I am certainly not anti anyone changing their appearance if the outcome makes them happy...lol, if outcomes were guaranteed (maybe they will be in the future!) Id certainly get some tweaks. But what many people dont realise is that there is a vast expanse of looking worse instead of better between the back street botches and the good results. Many unhappy patients, as mentioned, have been to decent surgeons. Noses arent like facelifts or tummy tucks..they are way less predictable because they involve often creating a new frame work rather than restoring something.

Id say to the OP, unless you look in the mirror and hate your appearance so much it massively impacts how you live your life, dont risk it. Its a gamble.

It is not a painful operation, as someone else has suggested. I am 79 and had a nose job in my 30’s. There was obviously tenderness around the area of the op until it healed as with any operation, and some bruising under the eyes. It was the best thing I ever did for myself and to this day I feel much more confident about myself having had it done. I can recommend it wholeheartedly.

Same here, I wanted a nose job so much as my nose is very big , long and somewhat crooked all in one. One of the 'worst' noses I've ever seen really.
But when younger (20's-30's) could not afford, nowadays can probably do it with a loan but then I ask myself "is it really worthed" and my partner always banging on about how "pretty" I am (gorgeous beautiful you name it - utter crock of shit but he believes it 🤣) so he has been strongly discouraging me.
Often times I dont think much about it now, except when I'm with people as I'm thinking that All they see would be my awful nose and feel sorry or make fun of me in their heads.

I’ve got a deviated septum as a result of a broken nose and although I’m desperate to get it straightened I also keep putting it off, this thread isn’t helping me decide!
An ENT doc told me to think of your face as a tent, with the nose being a main tent pole in the middle supporting everything else. Start moving the pole and the tent suffers, the more it’s moved/ operated on the more the risk of it collapsing completely, so really do the research first.

I had a nose job back in 1990 when I was 23. I had a Roman nose and then broke my nose so it was also wonky. It did affect my confidence and I got teased etc.

My op was entirely internal so no scars. I think this was a relatively new approach at the time. After the op I had black eyes and lots of bruises and swelling and my face was numb. I didn’t have any pain. When the bandages came off, even though I was bruised I could see my new nose and it’s the strangest thing to look in the mirror for the first time and see yourself altered. It was the best thing I’ve ever done and I consider my surgeon a proper artist. What I think was so good is that he gave me my nose but improved, not an off the shelf pretty little nose that would have been better suited to a Sindy doll iyswim. If you go ahead find someone who specialises in facial plastic surgery (not a long shopping list of various ops on various areas of the body) with a proven history in subtle enhancement.

My surgeon is probably long retired and returned to his native Australia or I’d give you his name!

I had a nose job at 21 to remove a large bump. It was the best thing I ever did. I used Harley Medical Group and had it done in Manchester. I dont remember any pain at all, there was discomfort afterwards wearing the cast and i had 2 black eyes.
It takes about a year to fully settle, and I was very anxious about anyone knocking it etc. You also have to protect your skin in the sun.
Go for it!
