I used to live up the street from a man who had committed multiple dangerous offences and while he was living there he violently attacked my neighbour. It was horrendous and received one of these sentences as he was deemed so dangerous (thank God!). I understand there might be some people who could be reformed but tbh I do think that if they have been given an open ended sentence that it is because they are very dangerous individuals. I used to think people could change but after my experience I no longer believe this. I think some people can't change and need to be kept away from the public. I believe the man's crime (in the article) must have been very serious and violent to get this conviction, that there is a reason for it.
On a completely different note (and I am not well read on this subject so don't annihilate me, it's just a thought)...as for the kids involved in the grooming gangs referenced in the article - why is it they get this help when the UK have never even taken accountability for Shemima Begum? A girl who was also groomed by dangerous men. Surely she should be imprisoned in the UK and dealt with here rather than left in a camp somewhere indefinitely.
