Terrible shoulder pain- calcific tendonitis

Shameless post for traffic as I'm desperate. Have been having shoulder pain recently, dull ache which is worse at night. Went to physio last week which helped somewhat but pain got worse again on Sunday whilst I was at work (healthcare). Done some exercises from the physio yesterday which seemed to cause a terrible flare. Was in tears last night, pain was on par with labour, throbbing continously. Couldn't sleep. Rang (my fabulous) gp this morning who sent me for an x ray where a large calcium deposit was found. I'm hoping to get an ultrasound tomorrow (privately) but can anyone give advice on how to manage the pain or share similar stories of woe? I'm concerned about taking more time off work as I'm in the private sector and don't get paid if I don't go in. Photos attached of the bugger causing all this!

I had a steroid injection before Xmas. It was great instant relief . But now it is back again .
So debilitating for you OP . Will you be able to get it removed soon ? What does your GP recommend for the pain . Unless they remove it is there any thing you can do to avoid pain. Do take the tablets if recommended you only have to use them when you need to and hopefully it will be short term.

Glad the steroid injection gave you relief. Did the pain come back as bad the second time? So far I've been managing ok with naproxen twice a day. The pain was absolutely dreadful Monday/Tues, on par with labour. But it's actually not too bad now, it's just I still have a lot of weakness/reduced movement in my arm so it wouldn't be feasible/safe for me to go back to work yet. The doctor is hopeful the steroid will help. There's been no mention of removing the deposit at this stage. My friend who's a consultant told me "it's really not a case of size mattering in this instance!" My own gp didn't remark on the size

I had Arthroscopic subacromial decompression surgery. I was desperate, so I paid privately to see a shoulder orthopaedic surgeon. He knew immediately what was wrong and thankfully he agreed to do the surgery on the NHS. I had NHS treatment in a private hospital.

Oh gosh, I bet you didn't know whether to feel alarmed or proud! Really glad it went away by itself. Currently on amazon looking up those supplements, thank you!

I hope it works for you x

@Gorgeouslygorgeous how long did it take to get the arthroscopic surgery? And how long were you off work after the procedure?

Edited

I only waited three months but that was ten years ago. I recovered very quickly and had just a couple of weeks off work.

Steroid injection couldn't be given without MRI first . Not as bad when it came back but I know I don't do enough physio exercises. I hope you get treated quickly.

@GorgeouslygorgeousI’m interested in how your recovery went. Due to have subacrominial decompression surgery in a few weeks following a malunited fracture of proximal humerus and ongoing pressure on the tendon. Having gone through weeks of pain at the time of the fracture, now more soreness and just acute with sudden movement, I was wondering how long the post op pain lasted and what pain relief was most effective. When did you feel able to get out and about again. Many thanks.
