I'm getting married for the second time. How many of you older brides/ married not for the first time felt comfortable wearing white? Or anyone really, what are your opinions on this?

Love that you’re going for it @Notaboutthebass ! Weirdly I feel like wedding dresses have a magical power to make everyone beautiful regardless if they normally look good in white.

I laughed when shopping I went in saying I wanted a simple dress with sleeves And walked out with a sleeveless gown with a huge skirt and black detailing so have fun!

This is the thing isn't it, I have a feeling this might happen. I know exactly what I want already, a very specific dress, but it might not suit me.

When you tried on your actual dress did it make you go 'this is the one' straight away?

It did, I actually had two that I felt like was the one. I think I did know I wanted the white/black one but it was so different than what I was thinking it took me a bit to realize it.

But at the time I was dress shopping we were planning a destination wedding to get married on a pirate ship so the other “it dress” was perfect for that. The other “it dress” was more traditional ball gown so they were very different (see pics as examples of two and how different they were). In the end I went to lunch, had a couple glasses of wine, and went with my gut.

Turns out my destination and pirate ship were victims of hurricane Ivan and I ended up replanning my wedding for a local one in a ballroom! So it ended up being perfect 😁

I've been married twice and wore a white gown for each. I don't think anyone sees a bride at her first wedding and assumes she must be a virgin because she's wearing white these days, so what does it matter?

Both are beautiful. Glad you had a perfect day!
Thank you everyone! X

I wore a cream silk dress for my second. I was 42 and thought I’d look even older in a big white dress. It was the right choice for me, and that’s what everyone bride should do!

I got married for the first time at age 59. I wore a very pale cream dress from Ghost. It felt very bridal but appropriate for the registry office.

I had a proper wedding dress both times, purely because I got dress number 2 in a sample sale and got it for a fraction of the price.

Wear whatever you like, it's your wedding!
