To think the ICE agents who shot Renee Good and Alex Pretti ...

... should go to jail?

If Derek Chauvin can be sentenced to 22.5 years for the killing George Floyd, surely the men who executed two innocent civilians should get the same treatment?

Of course. Has anyone said they shouldn’t?

zurigo · 26/01/2026 16:23

Well, they haven't been arrested AFAIK, despite the public outrage.

The president of the USA? Fucking hell 🤯

KarenWheeler · 26/01/2026 16:24

Of course they should! They won't even be arrested, though.

Donald Trump?

ChurchWindows · 26/01/2026 16:28

The ICE agents don't even seem to have a proper uniform.
They look like vigilantes not government agents.

I would have thought people would just think they're being attacked by a gang of masked thugs which is I suppose what they are.

Ablondiebutagoody · 26/01/2026 16:29

Haven't ICE agents been given immunity whilst carrying out their duties?

LilyCanna · 26/01/2026 16:48

They’re not even investigating Renee Good’s killer. They are investigating her widow for allegedly obstructing the ICE agent. Seriously.

Ihateboris · 26/01/2026 16:58

Yes they should go to jail for murdering those poor innocent people. However, Trump is in charge so they will definitely not be held to account.

As federal agents they cannot be prosecuted at state level for anything they do whilst crrying out their federal duties. This is not a new law.

Federal prosecutors can bring charges against a federal agent but that happens very rarely. Also the requirements for a prosecution are much higher in federal law than at state level. Prosecutors would have to demonstrate they knew their conduct was unlawful or that they acted recklessly. That would be difficult to prove in a court.

TopPocketFind · 26/01/2026 17:15

Bovino has already said he won't release names and the agents are removed from Minnesota and put back on the job elsewhere.

Nothing will happen to them.

Allswellthatendswelll · 27/01/2026 12:25

In any civilised country they would.

Dweetfidilove · 28/01/2026 00:37

George Floyd vs two innocent civilians? The way your question is posed is unreasonable.

I think this mentality is what creates problems like the one happening now. Trump had a lot of support for granting immunity from prosecution to law enforcement officers killing citizens 'in the line of duty'; after the killing of many Americans. And now, as with so many of his policies that were well supported, this is adversely affecting ALL Americans.

Instead of just holding well-trained law enforcement officers liable for the murder of civilians, we spend time dissecting and comparing the 'quality' of the victims and who deserves/not to die. Just as there were folks defending DC for murdering George, there are folks now defending the masked murderers of Renee and Alex. Not one of the three deserved to die in the way they did, and all three killers deserve/d to face prosecution.

SailorSong · 28/01/2026 00:53

Presumably you would allow them an investigation and, if warranted, a trial first?

People charged with murder are generally jailed pending their trial.

...but yeah, assuming the OP means prison, I think you can take as a given that anyone offering an opinion thinks there should be due process.

In a country where the Rule of Law still existed in a meaningful sense, I'd think the agent who killed Good would likely be convicted of murder, and the agents who killed Pretti, almost certainly.

Obviously. The sort of independent, thorough investigation we expect in the UK.

No chance of that happening in the US though. They were very quick to tamper with the crime scene before the forensic scientists could get there.

My comment had nothing to do with what you call 'the quality' of the victim. I was comparing a law enforcement officer in the case of George Floyd going to jail for killing an US citizen (for manslaughter/second degree murder i.e. his actions resulted in GF's death, but he wasn't trying to kill him), and the deliberate execution of two US citizens by law enforcement officers - a far more serious crime. Yet the first resulted in the arrest and imprisonment of the officer and the second and third ... crickets! Absolutely NOTHING is being done. It's a disgrace.
