StrawBlueRas · 26/01/2026 12:33

Hi all!

I have an important birthday coming up in 2 days and last minute have decided an electric throw might be good as my mum works at her desk and likes to wrap up warm!

my brain can’t comprehend all the options and the reviews are mixed!

which ones would you recommend?

I’ve seen silent night and slumber down online but can’t decide which one I should buy!

I bought 3 of the lidl ones, absolutely fantastic.
Within 5 minutes wrapped in one I was so toasty and then turned it off.

A great buy for a gift.
My son is in a cold apartment and has found it fantastic to sit and watch tv or for working, myinon the bed.
His girlfriend thinks its brilliant too.

Dreamland Alaskan throw
https://www.dreamlanduk.co.uk/products/relaxwell-deluxe-alaskan-husky-faux-fur-heated-throw

absolutely amazing had mine 3 years and it still going strong
heats up really quickly
I’ve bought a few over the years as Christmas presents and everyone loves them
and you can put it in the wash on a cool wash and it comes up just like new

its like sleeping with a big fluffy polar bear on you

Not sure if it's just me having terrible luck but nearly every single electric blanket or throw I've ever had hasn't lasted more than one season. I had an expensive one from dreams that broke after a week, they sent me a new one, that broke after a week, they sent a third, same thing!!! Eventually got a refund.

Have tried several different ones at various price points, none have lasted long enough to even need washing (which is where I assumed any problem might kick in as although most of them insist they are washable it feels wrong!).

The only one that's still going strong after 3 years is a cheap one I got reduced from the lidl middle aisle!

I know a few people whove had the same issue.

So basically I'd advise either getting one with a good warranty (and keep the receipt!) or just going towards the cheaper end of the market and accepting it might need replacing.

Edited

I totally agree. I’ve had 3 that have only lasted a few months each - one of these was a high-end version.
I do love them though, so snapped up the one currently on offer in Aldi for £29.99 last week. It’s great so far so fingers crossed!

Anything by Dreamland. They’re the best

fancytoes · 26/01/2026 18:19

And John Lewis will likely do next day delivery to your nearest Waitrose if you are in urgent need (Dreamland)!

Jadebanditchillipepper · 26/01/2026 18:23

I have a Mia and Coco one from Amazon and it's been great. It's on its third winter and still going strong. It's washable and it didn't die when DH put it in the tumble dryer by mistake.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 26/01/2026 18:34

Can I say that Lakeland have a three year warranty on heated throws. They replaced one of mine that broke. They can be quite fragile I think and that was a great warranty.

Butteredtoast55 · 26/01/2026 21:12

We've got a Dreamland one and a QVC Cozee Home one, which is probably slightly better.

GrinchoftheNorth · 26/01/2026 21:12

I have two of the dreamland fur ones, both 2-3 years old and still going strong, used daily for hours for 7 months of the year

TheChosenTwo · 26/01/2026 21:18

I had 2 monhouse ones bought from Amazon at the same time, one for me and one for ds. Both the controllers were buggered within about 6 months like there was a loose connection.
bought a third and it’s been about 6 weeks so far… expecting it to not last long but it does get very hot quickly. Would not recommend them purely for the longevity.
dd has a mia and coco one that she leaves in the front room for me as she finds it too warm in her room, it’s pretty toasty and lasted about 18 months so far.

LaddersAndLadders · 26/01/2026 21:58

Also interested in long life ones. Have two different brands that never made the year but I lost the receipt. Wouldn't go near Dreamland again as I treated myself to their most expensive electric under blanket and its supposed to be fast heat but takes about an hour to heat up to decent temp and had no warmer foot zone.

NoNameIdeas · 26/01/2026 22:04

I got a grey dreamland one for Christmas and it is honestly the best thing ever! It came from John Lewis, think they have some good offers on at the moment.

I have a Dreamland heated throw and it’s perfect - can set the time and temperature as well

Qashgal · 26/01/2026 22:21

This is the one im currently wrapped in .
https://www.amazon.co.uk/LIVIVO-Heated-Electric-Over-Blanket/dp/B07K6RQLNC
It washes (and dries) so well which is a must in this house due to spillages.I normally only put this at heat level 2 or 3 which is so cosy. Heats uo really quickly too.
I didnt even pay full price for this as I got it ion charity shop 2 years ago and paid a handsome £8 for it ( to be fair it was probably brand new and just an unwanted gift).

I would never have another Silentnight blanket as just this week Ive thrown out 2 underblankets which both failed at the same time.

FirstdatesFred · 26/01/2026 22:23

Dreamland here too, if you're lucky you can get one for £50.

The dark teal and the grey are good colours, also got a pale pink one.

MaybeThisTimeILlbeLucky · 26/01/2026 22:38

What's the intelli.heat?

PollyMumsnet · 27/01/2026 16:38

Hi @StrawBlueRas 👋I'd recommend these two:

Dreamland Hurry Home Heated Throw, was £80, now £60 (great colour, thick and excellent quality)

Cosi Home® Luxury Heated Throw, £37 (a bargain price and unbelievably soft)

I've tested a whole bunch of heated throws, you can read my reviews on our best heated throws round-up.

Dreamland Luxury Faux Fur Husky Heated Throw
Best throw, expensive but definitely worth it. I’ve had mine for 2 years.

I’ve had one for 4 years and love it! Worth the extra money definitely

burblish · 27/01/2026 20:27

I have four different Dreamland ones and love them all! Two have been going strong for 1.5 years so far, and the other two are newer buys.
