16 month development

Hi,
My lo is 16 months. She was born 7 weeks early. She has been walking the past 4 months with her feet flat on the ground. Since yesterday she has been tip toe walking. Of course i had to google it and straight away it says autism. She answers to her name, she interacts with us and she plays and pretends play and has words. Just wondering is this normal at this age and do other kids do it?

Thanking you for reading my thread.

I have three kids all have done tip toe walking no ND that I know of. I'd really not worry unless there are other signs.

Thanks very much for your response. I appreciate it.

We had a period of mainly tip toe walking with our second- she seemed to find it a fun skill to master- she is also the most outgoing and easy going four year old imaginable.

I’ve got an almost 16 month old and she tiptoe walks sometimes. Her development sounds very similar to your little girl. I think they’re just trying it out and practicing their balance.

Google can be great, but sometimes it’s the work of the devil for reasons like this. Makes you worry often needlessly. No judgement btw. I have done the exact same thing with other issues. Maybe your daughter is trying something new? But if you are genuinely worried, talk to your HV.

My dd is 15 months and tiptoe walks on and off. I'm not concerned at all.

My younger sister never stopped tiptoe walking and had physio to learn to walk heel toe at around 5. She's a VERY outgoing and confident older teen, who walks normally, now.

It can be but so can a lot of things many of which turn out to be nothing if you have no other concerns than just keep monitoring the situation or contact the health visitor to discuss your worries.
