He's asleep on the sofa and snoring so loudly that I can't hear the tv

AIBU to murder the twat?

He announced earlier in the day how tired he was. He knows that he snores like a warthog. As my title says, he has fallen asleep on the sofa and the noise is hideous. We don't have another TV in the house so I'm having to resort to subtitles while I seethe. I'm tempted to accidentally throw a cushion on his face and accidentally sit on it until the breathing snoring stops. AIBU?

I could not snooze on the sofa. I love a good weekend winter day nap in my bed. He would be more comfortable in bed.

Record it on your phone and play it back when he is watching his favourite programme e.g. football or Peppa Pig.

Callmecynical · 24/01/2026 19:13

Sit on him, he’s on the sofa! If he wants more sleep he can go to bed.

TigerRag · 24/01/2026 19:15

My parents had a dog like this. I lost count of the amount of times I had to nudge him or shout at him to get him to shut up. He did once wake me up at 4am because of the amount of noise he was making

Has he been tested for sleep apnoea? Falling asleep in the afternoon plus awful snoring.
XH’s snoring was horrendous and the irony was he’d moan if I woke him up! He refused to be tested for it. He went eventually (I assume at wife #2’s persuasion) and guess what? It is sleep apnoea.
YANBU to consider burying him under the patio. I considered it when sleep deprived. Turned out divorcing was the better option.

Oh I'm working up to that option...

I’d just wake up him and ask him to move or to wake up. Don’t think it’s as big of an issue to be that annoyed over or like he’s really done it on purpose to annoy you.

Everything his does annoys me. This more than most mind you

Oh, just give him a poke and don’t be such a martyr.

Bonkers1966 · 24/01/2026 19:46

Turn up the TV.

I wonder if starting a MN thread counts as a good albi? 🤷🏼‍♀️
He woke up before I could test it out

Well if everything he does annoys you then perhaps it’s not really the snoring that’s the core issue…

PurpleCoo · 24/01/2026 21:15

That's unreasonable behavior, he needs to go to bed.

Why is he snoring so loudly? Is he overweight? Loud snoring should always be checked for sleep apnea

Ohgodhesannoying · 24/01/2026 21:37

No it isnt. You are correct @pinksheetss
