When you buy something big like that there's normally fairly hefty small print isn't there? Have you looked at it?

Just a thought - might this be a fast one the drivers are trying to pull? Seeing as there's nothing in the small print, the delivery charge was hand written on the carbon copy and they didn't press you for it. It might be their little earner, as it were.

Could be worth querying with the store if you can be bothered.

Sounds fine to me then. From the fact they made very little fuss it sounds as though people refusing is fairly normal.

Sometimes the delivery is through a separate company so you would get an additional charge, but the retailer should have let you know this.

Whenever I buy something in this way I always ask for a total price, including delivery and any other extras, just in case of rip-offs.

Agree it sounds fishy in this case though.
