I love talc after a bath and I know due to the health problems it's been pulled so I've been using baby powder but even that is becoming hard to find.
Where are you dusty ladies still getting it from?

I bought my grandmother 3 different scented body powders from a company called Hula (more expensive than baby powder, but might be worth looking at).

mondaytosunday · 19/01/2026 17:42

Amazon

purser25 · 19/01/2026 17:46

I thought M & S still did talc

SophieJo · 19/01/2026 17:48

I use Medipure from Boots.

Pippatpip · 19/01/2026 18:02

Old fashioned chemists still do it. I got some dusting powder and yardley from one in Bury St Edmunds.

Been increasing difficult to find real (and unscented) talc in the UK for a while. Sainsbury stopped maybe a couple of years ago, and on just checking looks like Waitrose too, since my last purchase in May. Scented has been disappearing too.
Luckily got a good stash, as its been heading this way for years. After looking at the research etc, I personally still much prefer talc to a powder like cornstarch.
Have also bought easily in France, not sure of wider situation but my favourite Gilbert talc de Venise (for babies) seems still to be available there, and not too expensive. Also other brands.

Savers

Boots own brand baby powder. Johnson's sold in Superdrug.

The nicest one I ever had was Dior. But it was a long time ago so I've no idea if they still do it.

Do not use it - it’s carcinogenic.

Nowadays baby powder is generally based on cornstarch, not talc, therefore not carcinogenic. Check the label.

I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled I think and pop into any little chemists I find

I get mine from a small brand called Poppets. They do both scented and unscented. It’s great stuff. Highly recommend.

Marks and Sparks!

Notsuchafattynow · 19/01/2026 19:45

I bought M & S ' body powder' at xmas. They still do it!

ClaudiasDreadfulEyeliner · 19/01/2026 19:48

Have always wondered what the point is. And in any case you'd have to be dusting yourself like a Victoria Sponge to get through it at any significant rate. I remember a woman kicking off in the local Boots years ago because Chanel No. 5 Talc had been discontinued - she did not take the news well.

In any case, Johnson's is still sold widely. When searching on, e.g. Boots website, search "body powder" rather than talcum powder - you'll get more products showing.

frozendaisy · 19/01/2026 19:49

LUSH “Silky Underwear” dusting powder

GoBazGo · 19/01/2026 19:49

I got some lovely Yardley stuff in a tin from Savers.

ScarletSwan · 19/01/2026 19:52

The problem is that where there are talc deposits - the stuff is mined - there are often asbestos deposits nearby. There is a risk that the talc will be contaminated with small amounts of asbestos. For that reason, there is no way that I'd be wafting that stuff about any part of my body.

This is the point it's not sold widely. I do understand I can get it online.
I was just surprised as no actual shop has it in my town, and there's not even a gap for it on the shelf (ie out of stock)

And the point is you feel all silky and lovely

I must be in a drought area as savers, b and m and home bargains all no talc in my town . No baby powder at all!
I'd forgotten about avon so that's a possible . I also miss M and S talcs!

Ooh I was recently talking about the various talc fragrances that we used to buy from Boots for Christmas presents

crumpet · 19/01/2026 21:55

Try an independent chemists, they normallly have it

sophiasnail · 19/01/2026 21:57

HeyThereDelila · 19/01/2026 16:50

Do not use it - it’s carcinogenic.

All the body powder you can buy now is made from cornstarch so perfectly safe!
