My mum is back in hospital with a broken femur after a fall at home. She has heart and kidney failure as well as many issues with her lungs.

My dad had a heart attack in Oct and was in a care home for rehab. He's been home a few weeks but we've had to admit he's not coping on his own and he's back in the care home.

At this point I'm not sure either of them will be able to move back into their bungalow.

It's looking like we're going to have to re-home their dog because he's not safe with cats and both my sister and I have cats.

I've had some absolutely awful anxiety all day and I'm exhausted by everything.

Not sure why I'm posting... I've just seen some puppy pics of the dog and it really hit me.

Just sending huge hugs because its an awful situation. I've never has a dog so I don't have any practical advice.

I just wanted to reach out to send virtual support xx ❤️

Oh OP, I'm so sorry, it sounds like you are having an awful time 😔 please don't feel bad for having to rehome their dog, it's probably the best and kindest thing you can do for him at this moment. I hope your mum is on the road to recovery as much as possible and that your dad settles back well into the care home. Look after yourself and try and get some rest when you can 💐

Sorry you are going through all this. If you can afford it see a counsellor as I have found it really helpful to have someone I can dump and vent with that is not family or friend.
Also gives me a different perspective so I sometimes feel less oppressed by my family situation.
sending a virtual hug 🤗 cos it’s tough keeping on keeping on.

Are adult social services involved?
If so they should be. The rehabilitation unit that released your dad should have had this in place before he even retired home.

If not you need to contact them.
To make sure he is able to maintain his own personal care (toileting and showering)
To make sure the home is safe for him to move about in, so no falls happen in the future.
Is he able to grocery shop/get food delivered
And to cook and launder

He may be able to have carers come to visit up to 4X a day

You could call Age Concern for advice or some other group that helps the elderly
Your GP may be of help

I have been in a similar situation with my parents, it's difficult and stressful x

That's a lot and very worrying. I'm sorry.

Try Dogs Trust to help with the dog. They organise fostering, rehoming and advice. So sorry you are going through this😔
