To think current chart music is good?

Just listened to the entire Top 40 on Radio 1. Although there are some awful clingers in the charts there are some good songs - Top 20 is good and Top 3 is very good!

AIBU to think that current music gets too much stick these days?

I actually agree with you. I get made fun of for listening to radio 1 because I am way too old according to their demographic, but I’ve really enjoyed new music in recent years.

I love current no 1 - Djo- End of Beginning - and I love ‘No Broke Boys’ by Disco Lines!

it seems the current chart is very influenced by Stranger Things - which I’ve never even watched ! Don’t do Netflix!

I love Taylor’s Ophelia and Rayes where is my husband,. Olivia Dean is really good too.

I absolutely love Zach Bryan so glad Plastic Cigarette is in there.

I just looked at the current top 40 (haven’t followed it since the 90s!). I don’t know most of the songs, as I don’t listen to mainstream music radio, and the only songs I know and like are the Taylor swift ones and one by Kehlani.

I don’t really get the top 40 since it became about streaming. Old tracks from Fleetwood Mac, Prince and Kate Bush are in the top 20. It’s odd.

I don’t fully understand it since the streaming either but I know there’s very precise ways of working it out - ie how CV many streams gets it to which chart position

i think all those old songs you mention are in the charts courtesy of Stranger Things - which k don’t watch ! I’m so conservative I only watch BBC1 and ITV because TV wise I like to
