Dog care

Hello . A lady I often see when out walking her little dog a small Yorkshire terrier she always walks a long distance in front of it, much to far to address any immediate issue, any way this particular day she was in the park and the dog stopped following her ( I’m not sure if it new where she was it’s 10 years old) after the lady had gone quite a distance she noticed the dog wasn’t following her so she waited a short while , when the dog didn't move she started walking back to the dog when she got a certain distance in front of the dog it started walking towards her , however, what is bothering me, I asked her was she not scared a bigger dog might attack and hurt him, her reply was if it did it would be his own fault for not keeping up, I was surprised at her response and replied I thought you cared for him more than that , needless to say and I’m not surprised she doesn't speak to me now, though we only used to say hello this is bothering me as I don’t like bad feelings, should I have minded my own business and not reacted ?

She clearly doesn't actually like the dog and is a heartless cunt.

Small dogs are just as likely to be aggressive as big ones. But dogs are not usually in danger of being hurt by other dogs.

And maybe she is heartless but I’d guess more likely she didn’t think it was any of your business and she didn’t enjoy being told off by a stranger.

Unfortunately dogs ARE often in danger of being hurt by other dogs, little dogs particularly can be badly hurt by much larger dogs who just intend to play or are a little unmannerly, they don't even need to be aggressive!

My sense of humour is like hers and I would probably have said something similar to a busy body asking me about my own dog tbh .

It's the kind of thing I might say if someone had annoyed me by making a comment. A joke. I absolutely dote on my dog to the point of anxiety sometimes, so there's no way of knowing if she was being serious or not.

This doesn't sound like someone who cares very much for her small dog, she's regularly leaving the poor little mite behind.

Yorkshire terriers are quite delicate little dogs and easily injured. As a pp mentioned, small dogs can be easily injured by bigger dogs, even in play.

At ten years old he might be developing health issues that affect his ability to walk as quickly or affect his eyesight, which might explain why he had stopped and only started walking towards his owner again when she got close to him.

It saddens me to know his walks are like this.

So how does she pick up its shit if it’s so far behind her?
