To not want the landlord to come several weekends in a row?

Our landlord likes to do fixes himself. We pay an enormous amount of money in rent but that’s just London (£40k+ a year).

He came to fix a plumbing issue with a dishwasher. This caused a leak. Landlord is now wanting to fix the kitchen floor tiles and wall by coming every weekend for a couple of hours. This has been going on for three weeks already and still not fixed

AIBU to not want him to come on the weekend? I don’t want to be there when he’s pottering with the fix. I don’t want to stress on a Friday night that I need to get the flat clean and tidy, to hide my private items, or whether or not I can stay out until 2am at a friend’s flat because the landlord might come early.

Landlord works during the week so can only do weekends. We work Monday-Friday and like having our space and peace on the weekend. It’s basically the only time we are in the house other than to sleep.

I would tell him precisely what you have said here, that weekends are not convenient. He is obviously taking longer because he is not a professional. Tell him he needs to finish the job in one go. Do you rent through a letting agency? If so talk to them.

I'm a landlord, I use an agency for all repairs and they are done quickly. I've never been inside tenant's house in 5 years.

Your landlord is being unreasonable and affecting your quiet enjoyment of the property.

I've also been a tenant for many years (living in a more expensive city where I can't afford to buy property). We had one 'cowboy' landlord and the rest have been great and never been inside our flats in 7 years.

Tell him its not convenient and it needs to be a weekday. That would drive me nuts.

I second telling him that weekend work is not convenient for you.

tell him weekends are not suitable for ongoing repairs and Monday to Friday would be available for these repairs - he may well have to take annual leave, but thats not your issue you would be giving him 5 days 9-4 - 45 hours of availability to fix these repairs.

you may have guests, plans to have wild sex - but can't do those things if he is fixing stuff every weekend - so he needs to find an alternative
