Endometriosis, pcos and an important day at work tomorrow

I have a day of important meetings at work tomorrow yet I'm currently sat on the toilet after massively flooding a super incontinence pad yet again and it's 01.39am. I'm due to get up at 5.00am and my meetings are in the office. I could honestly rip my uterus out.

Good lord, I feel you. I have a big work day tomorrow and am having a wild bleeding experience. Fibroid, not endo. Want to hear something gross? I’ve got a cough that could raise the dead and earlier while curled up in the sofa I coughed and felt something shoot out of my uterus and come to a halt somewhere near my knee. Luckily I was wearing trousers. Hobbled to the shower and discovered a fist sized clot. Hoping it’s the actual fibroid but I should be so lucky. Don’t know whether to be horrified or impressesed. Hopefully the hormones will keep us both going through the day. Hope it goes ok for you.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry that you're suffering too. You have all my sympathies. The clots are awful aren't they? It shooting to your knee is quite an achievement, but what a shock it must have been.

Take care of yourself, lovely.

As a fellow endo girly, just dropping in to give you a virtual hug.
It always flares up at the most inconvenient times.

Good luck at work today!

Cocomelon67 · 15/01/2026 09:29

Hope you’re doing okay. Just to say solidarity. If men experienced this, I’m sure there would be better care!

Ah I really feel for everyone. I have fibroids too and about a year ago we took my son to London for his birthday. I was bleeding heavily and we were mid meal in a fancy restaurant when I felt something wet and rubbery on my leg. A clot had travelled down my skinny jeans and stuck itself on my calf. It was so freaking gross.

I am having a hysterectomy next month (after over a year of waiting). I cannot wait.

Chefpig · 15/01/2026 10:15

Thank you everyone. After a massive flood in the night, I've opted to work from home which is a massive inconvenience and possibly makes me look bad to my colleagues and management, especially as I want promotion soon. I've offered to still participate in the meetings though and they know of my illness so hopefully me showing willing will go someway towards showing I'm still a good, Hardworking employee.

Solidarity with fellow bleeders, what a bunch of heroes we are!

I honestly had no idea about this until it happened to me, flooding and losing clots. It’s unbelievable how much the body can withstand. I was also waiting for a hysterectomy but I just don’t think I can face it. Hoping for a myomectomy later this year.

I'm so sorry you're going through this too. We do indeed stand in solidarity.

Sorry to jump on this thread but looking for some guidance from you guys, my 13yr old is really suffering with her periods she is already on tranexamic and mefenamic acid but cramps are still excruciating. She is missing two or three days of school a month. We have an attendance meeting at school next week. Thankfully my husband WFH 75% of the time so it is manageable for us work wise.

I am concerned it may be something more like endo, can you give me some advice on how to push GP for further investigations?

I don’t have specific advice on endo but there are some good examples online of wording discussions with GP so they don’t fob you off.

If your daughter is experiencing pain, heavy bleeding or other symptoms that are affecting her ability to attend school, take part in hobbies or activities, affecting her ability to sleep etc then tell the GP explicitly and ask for further investigation. If they refuse, ask them to document the reason to refusal and seek a second opinion. Good luck.

Thank you so much, I am going to request an appointment with the lovely Dr at our surgery who is known for her gynae knowledge and will do a little more research so I am armed!

Hi @Romebreak. I'm so sorry to hear your daughter is in pain so much. Ask your daughter's GP for a referral to gynae. They can then do tests to determine what may be going on but you may have to push for this.

Would you allow your dd to try the mirena coil of it's permitted at her age? Some people say it can work wonders but of course it's only covering the real issue up.

If your dd has tests including a hysteroscopy or anything up her vagina and she feels uncomfortable, please know that she can ask for gas and air which makes a massive difference to the pain she'd otherwise potentially experience.

Wishing her and you lots of love ❤️

Coming back to ask fellow travellers’ advice. I’ve now been bleeding for 15 days, about 9 of them I’ve bled through the ultra lillets hourly for 5-6 hours of the day, and through period pants and multiple layers of clothing (ie thermals and trousers) twice a day on 5 days. It had slowed down but this afternoon it happened again. ChatGPT says I should go to hospital but I’m not going to a&e. What do you guys think? I had a stroke three years ago after taking tranexamic acid so I don’t think they’ll prescribe again (and I don’t want it). I also still have a cough and now ear infection which I think is taking longer to clear because I’m so depleted. Feel like I could sleep for a year.

@Allisnotlost1 I'm sorry youtr going through this too.

I'd recommend seeing your GP and getting your anaemia levels checked as you've lost so much blood. I wonder if they might consider prescribing norethisterone to you to stop the bleeding. Another option would be the mirena coil. I've flooded two out, but for some they work really well. Would you consider an hysterectomy? In my experience, they're very difficult to persuade gynaecologist to do but life changing for those of us who bleed so much x

Thank you ☺️

I tend to get depressive symptoms on progesterone so have avoided having the Mirena after a bad experience. Though this didn’t stop one surgeon from fitting one without asking…

My consultant suggested a hysterectomy would do if I agreed, I just feel very torn. It’s such a big surgery. This state of things makes me feel I have no choice but what if I have even worse and not reversible symptoms. Ugh.

Corneliafunk · 27/01/2026 08:42

Hi all, I was wondering whether endometrial ablation would be worth considering for v heavy periods? It is less invasive than having a hysterectomy. I am not familiar with the procedure but came across it when keeping an eye out for gynaecology treatments for my 20 yo daughter who suffers a lot from excruciating period pain.
Obviously this isn’t a treatment for her currently as you have to have finished any child bearing you want to do, but it may be something worth exploring for those who have (or who aren’t going to have kids)?
