to think its hard to find a handyman to do small jobs?

We have a few things needing round the house. We are both disabled and would struggled to do them ourselves. I have called lots of handy men or even someone more specialised but it feels that as it is just a few odd DIY / repair jobs nobody is interested. We leave a message, email or speak to them they either say they are too busy or they say yes then never follow up and ghost us.

I've heard people say that bigger jobs are prioritised and that nobody really wants to do small jobs which might take a few hours at most and won't be a big earner.

Its just so frustrating. Anyone else found this to be an issue?

Yes, definitely. Ive used Taskrabbit a couple of times recently as it's seemed the best way to get hold of someone to do little jobs that I can't do.

They've been fine, fortunately.

Yeah I’ve found task rabbit good for this sort of thing, especially if you group a few jobs together so it’s a few hours.

Do you have a local Facebook page you can ask on? In our village someone would pop round and help you for free.

You could also try Airtasker app

Have you tried AgeUK? You can usually access a handy person for small jobs through them, as a paid for service.

One of my friends lists things she needs doing until she has what she thinks will take a day or two. She then hires someone to work through her list. It’s much easier to get someone to agree to 1-2 day’s work than an odd job.
