CV writing service recommendations

Posting here for traffic. Can anyone recommend a good company or individual who they have paid to polish up their CV? Prices are a lot more expensive since I last did this so don't want to waste my money! Thanks in advance ☺️

Don't waste a penny! CV writers are awful. Go on line, use samples, run it through AI or whatever, double check it with humans.

Important bits: context of company (who they are, what they do, how big they are), your responsibilities (brief over including scale - number in your team, size of budget etc), and your personal achievements in the role.

No recommendations, but it’s fairly easy to write it yourself. AI can be very helpful to get you going, or you can use free CV templates off the internet.

It may need tailoring to each job you apply for if necessary.

Mine has my details, then a few headlines….
Highly skilled PA with over 15 years experience across a variety of sectors. Then career history with a few bullet points about what I’ve achieved in past roles such as…
Successfully implemented a shared calendar system.

Then qualifications recent to older. Finally a short paragraph about my personal interests. Try to keep it to 2/3 pages max.

Agree with the above, you can get ChatGPT or similar to do this. Just talk to it like you would a real-life CV writer.

I asked it to critique mine and advise on how to update it and think it did a pretty good job. You can brief it on the sort of role(s) you want, or paste in the outline of a job you want to apply for and get it to angle your CV appropriately.

Do you have a colleague you'd trust to help with this? I have done this for countless friends and colleagues. I reckon I end up reviewing at least one every couple of months.

Thanks so much everyone, looks like I'll be saving some money!

I would definitely recommend having a professional help with your CV. I have used the services from a recruiter with extensive experience securing roles across industry including exec roles. You can find their details here at www.mynewcv.co.uk

Some of the other CV services don't have a recruitment background and use standard templates which I agree with the comments that you don't need to pay for that. In my experience what you do need to pay for is honest feedback, tweaking and job relevance.

This will become more important as the more people that use chat GPT and likes results in near identical CVs for the same job and it becomes obvious its AI and not the individual. You run the risk of instantly loosing credibility and being rejected. Coventry City council have stated, ' If there is any evidence of a candidate using AI to complete their application, then the application will be rejected unless the candidate can provide a justification which the Council considers to be reasonable.'

My workplace has a line in all job ads about not using AI in applications, too.

tiramisugelato · 06/06/2026 16:32

Just do it yourself, there’s loads of free templates online. Don’t use ChatGPT either.

Thingamebobwotsit · 06/06/2026 16:54

Write your own, use ChatGPT to assess it for clarity. Get it to analyse your CV against the job description too and ask it to advise on where you stack up against the requirements and how you can improve it Do not use it to write your CV though, it is very obvious when it has been used too heavily. And always shows up in interview.
