I have winter spider concerns

What do spiders eat in winter?

I have a spider who lives in the bathroom window. Charlotte. She’s lived there for months and months and we chat while I clean my teeth. I’ve grown rather fond of her.

But what on earth is she eating? There are no bugs around. There’s nothing in her webs. Should I offer some ham?

I assume it’s a cellar spider (a long spindly one)?

They eat house spiders, moths, little flies. I don’t think you need to worry about it. And I don’t think there’s anything you need to feed it. It would probably leave the bathroom to look for food if it needed to.

They don't eat ham otherwise Wilbur would've scarpered and he hung aroung right till the end to welcome Charlotte's baby spiderlings .

They live off their fat in winter - my Cat told me so it's true

she’s not spindly. More chunky but not massive.

hadn’t thought about Wilbur.

Im not sure if its the same but as a child we had 6 tarantulas as pets. They could go 6 months without eating very comfortably, so I wouldn't worry, however I think its lovely that you have let her stay in your window and not banished her outside x

It’s an excuse to not dust/clean the window.

should I leave the fruit bowl to breed some fruit flies?
