Service charge discount for leasehold single parent?

Hello, I vaguely remember seeing something about single parents getting help with discount on service charge costs of flats they own.
I can't seem to find this information anywhere at the moment and wondered if there might be parents on here that are currently doing this?
I am downsizing from our family home to a flat for me and my child and currently searching on the market for what the best possible financial situation would look like in London.

Isn't the service charge calculated by size of the apartment and not the type or number of occupants? I don't think it exists. Is there maybe a council tax discount?

If you were to get a service charge discount other apartments would have to pay more which I highly doubt is happening. It's stipulated in the lease how it's calculated. It doesn't change just because a bunch of single parents occupy the building.

Unlikely as it's a contractual obligation set in the terms of a lease.

Perhaps you are confusing it with the 25% discount that you would get as a sole adult for council tax?

There's no reason you would get a discount on service charges.

I think this must be a misunderstanding of some kind.

I don't think this is a thing. The service charge is per unit, not per person.

I'm a director of our estate (we own the freehold). It's a mix of flats and houses.

I've been doing it for years and have never heard of a service charge reduction for a single person. As @Spirallingdownwards suggests you may be thinking of Council Tax

The only other thing I can think of is here

in the paragraph headed homeowner

Can I get Universal Credit (UC) Housing Costs Element?

You can only get help with housing costs through Universal Credit if you are eligible for Universal Credit. Read our guide for tenants and homeowners.

This. In the block my flat is in, the same service charge applies to all flats regardless of the number of occupants or even if there are no occupants at all.
