To book an AirBnb for DD’s birthday sleepover

DD will be turning 12, she’s desperate for a sleepover party but we really don’t have the space. We can just about squeeze in one friend to sleepover in her (box) room, but not multiple, we just have one small bathroom and I also don’t really fancy having my whole house invaded, have younger children too. I’m wondering about booking an AirBnb I’ve seen in our town- we are in a seaside town so quite a lot of holiday accommodation, it is an apartment above a shop. It has four double bedrooms so I could stay on one bedroom (DP at home with younger DC) and then DD and 5 friends in the others, they could take over the living room and each other’s rooms and we can order pizzas and I’ll bring breakfast stuff. It costs £185 for the night which is frankly a lot less than I’m paying younger DD’s whole class soft play party!

Yes do it, it sounds perfect and your daughter will love it.

Sounds like a great idea.

I very much doubt that any air b&b is going to be happy about you using their property in such a way

Brilliant idea - only possible issue I see is making sure everyone is collected and property is tidied by check out time - some airbnb have ridiculous stipulations re both of these.

I did this but got a 1 bed Air bnb with a huge sitting room they could all 'camp out' in together. She is 20 now and it was her "best party"

Littletreefrog · 11/01/2026 10:46

Some AirBnBs don't allow parties but I would message the owner explain what you are planning and that you will be on site the whole time etc and I'm sure they would be fine. 12 year old sleepovers are not the type of parties they are trying to avoid.

Can you trust them to be careful? No spills or breakages. Have you checked the owners will allow 1 adult and 6 kids? Agree that you need to be wary of checkout times and cleaning.
If you will be the only adult what is the plan if something happens? Injury? Illness?

That sounds great fun, do it. When mine were young our house was tiny, on some birthdays we used to take friends to a caravan for the weekend, i would go and leave Dh and other Dds at home.

MadamCholetsbonnet · 11/01/2026 10:56

I would save the money and just have them all in sleeping bags/ on the sofa in the lounge.

Duckingpondlake · 11/01/2026 11:11

Can you maybe send DH and younger dc to grandparents for the night and let them have the run of the house?
Air Bnb have such ridiculous rules I would be worried about a spillage or suchlike

SomeOtherUser · 11/01/2026 11:17

No reason why not in my view, as long as the AirBnb owners allow it!

That sounds amazing, I’d imagine it could be horrifically loud for the neighbours though?
