Just that, really. I'll start with a few.

The way discount pop-ups scream at you on a shopping page as soon as you click on it. Excuse me, I haven't had a chance to look at the product yet, I don't KNOW if I want a 15% discount!!

Daytime TV adverts. Either they are for funeral plans, featuring perky older couples chatting gaily about "lovely send-offs" or overpriced tat that requires them to repeat the same information repeatedly for several minutes in the hope you'll be hypnotised into ordering it.

Supermarket layouts. Always moving stuff about, completely random grouping of items. For instance, my local Morrisons has just moved half its meat products on an aisle away from the butchery department.

I have dozens more, nothing major, but niggling.

OP posts:

My DH breathing.

Chiseltip · 07/01/2026 06:35

The fact that all supermarkets are laid out differently. I know my way around the one I use, but anytime I go into a different one it takes me ages to orient myself and find anything.

I think there should be a law that says all supermarkets must have the same lay out.

There's one thing that really gets my goat - PEOPLE NOT INDICATING when driving.

Oh, and my alarm clock.

Out of retail now! Starting new job on 19th

Things that annoyed me in the job:
. Retired customers that shopped Saturday mornings and complained it was busy.
. Customers who stopped and talked to a former neighbour or work colleague who not been in touch for 15 years in front the milk of all places!
. Customers who said that they always bought (product) from the store. We last sold it about 7 years ago.
. When a newspaper goes up in price, got customers who said they will be going to paper shop to buy it. It will be the same price there too…

BeQuirkyMintScroller · 07/01/2026 07:13

When people say things such as "please contact myself with any questions" and "this report has been prepared by myself and Linda".

I know it's irrational irritation because not everyone has the same grip on correct grammar usage as some of us do.

Also cake served on top of the bloody napkin.

OhFeyreDarling · 07/01/2026 07:20

Toilets that don't the their one job and flush! We've got one at work that flushes with force of a tsunami, splashes water everywhere and there's stil paper when it's done. Most people avoid using it

The sealed packets of food that say 'peel here' and never bloody peel anywhere and you end up cutting it open

And ladies insisting on taking their husband shopping with them and they just follow her around obviously not wanting to be there and just getting in everybodys way. Please just leave him in the car

Elmo230885 · 07/01/2026 07:28

Places where the menus are electronic and keep changing so you cant decide what you want. They are usually behind the counter too so and when you are trying to read them someone asks you to order. I end up flustered and walking out.

Shops that 'pounce' on you when you walk in, I can deal with one 'greeter' but when every staff member gets you I'm out of there. Some shops and Lush are particularly bad for this.

In another life when I was a 16 year old in retail I would get annoyed when customers would pick and item up that had clearly been left in the wrong place by another customer and tell me I had to legally sell it to them for the price the random place said. I remeber actually shouting back at a middle aged man when he demanded I reduce a brand new England football shirt to £5 as he had picked it up from the £5 sale rail (full of children's tshirts) where another customer had clearly dumped it. I think me shouting back shocked him and he scurried out!

grinchmcgrinchface · 07/01/2026 07:32

Kids school is supposed to open at 8.35 yet I stand outside till 8.45 in the freezing cold while the teachers stand in the classroom ignoring all the parents & kids. Angry And when they finish at 3.15 Im stood till 3.25-3.30 waiting for my child!
pisses me off to no end. 😂

It makes me irrationally angry that people think that retired people should be forced to shop during the week and never at weekends.

Sometimes I’m too busy during the week. Sometimes I’ll run out of something on a Saturday. If I’m making a nice Sunday lunch I want nice fresh ingredients so I’ll go on Saturday.

Sick to the back teeth of this ageist claptrap.

CopeNorth · 07/01/2026 07:33

This week: being back at work and in particular, every time I receive an email which is a legitimate part of my actual job 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 take me back to hibernating on the sofa with a Terry’s chocolate orange.

But doyou complain it's busy. I think that's the issue

pinkpony88 · 07/01/2026 07:39

I’m usually a pretty calm person but when I catch my dressing gown sleeve on a door handle I'm practically feral 😂

RedToothBrush · 07/01/2026 07:40

Other people loading my dishwasher.

HoratioBum · 07/01/2026 07:47

Slow walkers
mouth breathers
loud chewers
’myself’ and ‘yourself’
‘Pacifically’
the fact that no matter how well and patiently I stir my CupaSoup there is always a little molehill of clag at the bottom of the cup.
people who do not have a method of payment ready to go at a checkout/ when getting on a bus ( the latter especially if I am standing behind them in the rain).

That’ll do for now.

TheSalvadorsStickbymebaby · 07/01/2026 07:49

Another one for the hapless husband trailing behind wife in supermarket getting in the way at every turn.

TheSalvadorsStickbymebaby · 07/01/2026 07:49

People spitting🤮

APC303 · 07/01/2026 07:50

People eating apples.

No one has said retired people shouldn't shop at the weekend Hmm
The gripe was about people shopping at the weekend and then complaining the shop is busy.

thisfilmisboring123 · 07/01/2026 07:57

People who walk behind (or stand actually) too closely to me.

Oh god yes, ploppy men sitting outside changing rooms, or drooping around the lingerie section, just go and sit in a pub or cafe

SchnizelVonKrumm · 07/01/2026 08:01

People who sign off on internal emails with "kind regards" etc when you are sitting in the same office. You literally spoke to me half an hour ago so you don't need to send me your regards!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 07/01/2026 08:02

People doing what DH calls “ shoppers walk” or people blocking the aisle while they chat to their friends. Have some awareness folks! Although that’s not irrationally annoying - it’s bloody annoying!
