To just get one of those meal prep boxes?

We have a 3 year old and a 5 month old and we're so out of shape and have totally fallen off the healthy bandwagon we were on since LO came along. I love to cook but I don't always have all the energy for shopping, planning, prep and cooking - but I do enjoy cooking as a bit of down time so don't want to stop completely, plus I find frozen meals a bit uninspiring sometimes? AIBU to just want to try a subscription meal box whilst we're in the thick of sleep regressions and other life chaos?

Can anyone suggest a meal box that's good for the above? Happy for a bit of cooking, not tons of dishes, enough to feed 2 adults and a small child and just a good start to being healthy again after losing it all due to the madness of a baby!

I tried HelloFresh, but stopped as it was working out as being more expensive than a normal shop, and the portion sizes were so small that I was eating their version of "for two" by myself... and still feeling hungry! The meats were arriving with shorter dates, too.

My neighbours have recommended Gousto.

@Catza Are they all microwave-only meals at Frive? (I don't have one, that's all, but it must be nice to take the cooking out of it sometimes, too!)

You can heat them up in the oven (pretty sure their website gives instructions), you'd probably want to transfer the contents to the oven-proof dish. They come in compostable paper trays but those are probably coated so I wouldn't trust them in the oven.

Thank you, @Catza!

We have Hellofresh and have found the portions quite big! - we have the meal for 4 people and there are 5 of us (3 teens age 15-19) and if it is a one pot meal there is sometimes a small portion left over! if it is something portioned like burgers of a chicken breast then I just buy an extra one.

The main reason we get it is so that everyone can just get on and cook without having to work out what ingredients we have or what meals are planned - especially DH and the 2 boys - they can just grab the recipe card and then cook the evening meal. Taken a large mental load off me.
