We've had a lot of work done on our house recently. Built an extension, moved some walls, had walls replastered, and new flooring throughout the downstairs.
I had been looking at getting LVT, but was worried about the cost. So discussed it with both the sales agent, and the man who came out to measure up and advise on details. I wanted hard flooring, warmer than tiles, that could be regularly steam cleaned (so not laminate unless they could seal it) They suggested a specific brand of vinyl sheeting that's designed to be tougher than regular vinyl. So far so good.
They have since fitted the floor, in two stages as it's the whole of the downstairs, and it needed screeding. The first team did a wonderful job, it looks lovely, any joins are practically invisible.
The issues start with the second round, and our kitchen floor. Where it joins in the doorway, there's a very obvious valley where the screed hasn't been feathered in. They have said this won't make it wear unevenly, but I'm not convinced.
It isn't all the way to the corners in multiple places. They clearly realised they'd messed it up, as in the worst spot they wedged in a random scrap of flooring so it wasn't immeadiately obvious ( I only realised after mopping the floor, and this loose bit coming up! )
They were due to come and patch it properly before Christmas, but it needed to be rescheduled (I've had to chase twice to get it rebooked)
Now the floor has been in for a bit, I've also discovered that they've cut about a metre into the vinyl, from the edge to the middle of the room. I'm guessing this was to make it easier to fit. But now I've cleaned it a few times, it's fairly obvious, and dust etc catches on it and looks shit. It's also no longer waterproof, so I can't steam clean that bit. Oh, and they've also spilt glue across one part of the floor that won't come up.
I'm not just being fussy am I? I'm so cross, I'm not sure if I'm being rational about it. Someone is coming to take a look on Thursday, and I need to get my thoughts in order, and work out what would be acceptable with regards to fixing it.
