Reselling on Vinted for profit …

So as my name suggests I work for Morrisons , they were running a Christmas Disney promotion where you collected Disney character cards with your shopping and you could buy an album to display them .
Im on a couple of Facebook groups for swapping and people are selling for small amounts or swapping and posting the cards . Anyway long story short the albums have sold out pretty much all across the country, but by fluke my local has loads so people on group have been asking for them, i have bought a lot of albums and made an effort to list on Vinted for cost and send them out to people who ( supposedly ) wanted them for their children .
Well now the AIBU comes in , lots of people have left me lovely feedback saying how grateful they are etc but I’ve seen at least 3 of my buyers reselling at hugely inflated prices ( think £20+ , I charged £2 ) and it’s really pissed me off. My husband thinks it’s funny and why am i bothered ?
I haven’t messaged these people as what’s the point but it’s bugging me hence I’m ranting here .
I mean are people so hard up to make £10 when parents are desperately trying to get hold of these ? I could have sold the ones I had 10 times over .
I just don’t understand wanting to profit so much out of something that’s intended to be a bit of fun for children .

No good deed goes unpunished. Don't waste anymore time or energy on it and don't bother about doing similar again

supermarketwork · 01/01/2026 15:41

Thankyou for this , I just wish there was a way to know who was genuine x

It's totally up to them what they do with it once they've bought it, nothing to do with you at all.

LuckyNumberFive · 01/01/2026 15:58

It's not worth your time sitting stewing over this. Some people are genuine, some aren't. No good deed goes unpunished as they say!

It's not something I'd do now but also, as someone who at one stage was having to take a calculator round Aldi to make sure I didn't spend more than what I had in my very small bank balance, yes I can imagine lots of people this time of year would do whatever they can for an extra tenner. That was a week of school meals when I had my eldest in primary school.

Just because someone is asking X it doesn't necessarily mean anyone is buying at that price. When it comes to Vinted, concentrate on your own listings, don't waste you time looking at other sellers who are selling the same items for more (or less, for that matter).

ATinyLittlePooch · 01/01/2026 16:26

Sorry that sucks. People are ruthless with these collectibles!

Think it’s more that I only sold to people on these groups knowing how sought after they are , and sold at cost , people are paying crazy prices , that’s the annoying thing , but yes agree I need to rise above it 😬

Well then, you have to decide if you want to be kind and sell with no profit, or make a profit. It's your choice and there's no point being annoyed by others who choose profit. It's a capitalist market, there will always be someone trying to make a profit. Maybe rethink your prices a little if only to deny resellers an opportunity. But, I think the real lesson here is once you've sold something on Vinted, it belongs to the buyer, and totally up to them what they choose to do with it.

Well OP welcome to the real world, where someone would sell their granny for £5.

I mean you’re a mug if you’re buying “lots” and paying for packaging and selling at cost. I mean I get wanting to do a kind thing if someone was desperate for one but to do it multiple times.

LividArse · 01/01/2026 17:15

You had the choice to sell for more yourself.

It’s not like they’re diddling a charity.

I just sold a massive bundle of skincare stuff I won’t use. One of the buyers is obviously going to sell it on for a few pee more per item. Fair play to her.

aLFIESMA · 01/01/2026 17:17

When I see this sort of thing I always feel grateful that my 'hard up' days are behind me. You never know if selling things on is the only way to make a small difference to someone's food budget.

FunnyOrca · 01/01/2026 17:18

I’m alone on the world on this, but I hate Vinted! There are quite clearly stolen goods for sale on their platform and everyone thinks it’s wonderful! 😑

Anyway, sympathies with you OP. There’s no morality in it.

I agree, Vinted is being ruined by professional resellers, prices are much higher now, the days of bargains are long gone! I wouldn't be bothered if I sold something and it was relisted for a higher price though.

What’s your issue with it? I’m sure Vinted isn’t the only selling platform where people take advantage and sell stolen or counterfeit goods.

That’s not true, I get some incredible bargains on there because I know when to look.

reselling doesn’t bother me in normal circumstances, ie a dress , but it’s the profiting from something children want that i don’t like , similar if you like to the wooden toys from aldi that everyone went crazy for a few months back

That's great, when do you look then? I haven't noticed any times being better than any other really.

RobertaFirmino · 01/01/2026 18:58

How on earth do you think Morrisons themselves stay afloat? By buying cheaply and selling on for profit. Even with baby/children's items.
