Anyone have a recipe for a nice pudding that’s easy to make and serves at least 10?

taking it to a family get together so needs to be portable, but only an hour away so can be cold. Would really love a tried and tested recipe sorry couldn’t find a relevant topic

To serve 10 and travel well I would do a chocolate tart. I don’t have a recipe but you bake a pastry shell ( can buy the pastry). Then put a layer of salted caramel, lots of recipes online or you can also buy this. Then make a chocolate ganache (300 ml of double cream and 300g of chocolate) this will make a firm tart which will travel well. Pour the ganache on top and let it set! I have made this loads of time and everyone loves it. You can do lots of variations, white chocolate and raspberry ( just raspberries sugar and cornflour cooked until thick and set) or on New Years Day I am doing a chocolate and cherry one.

Jamie Oliver’s chocolate tart with sea salt, ridiculously easy to make, I usually use digestive base rather than the pastry one though. serve with raspberries and cream

Lemon tart. Travels well and looks fancy pants with little effort. Heston Blumenthal's Waitrose recipe card version is my favourite... If you can't find it on line there are other versions

Bread and butter pudding, but made with panatone.

Jamie Oliver's panettone bread and butter pudding tart is perfect for this. Very easy, travels well and can be hot, cold or room temp. Uses whole eggs so nothing left over, and although it says whole milk it's absolutely fine to use semi. Could serve it with cream but doesn't really need any accompaniment. If you don't have a tart tin you could use any pudding dish really.

Great minds, @Muffsies!

Good quality vanilla ice-cream, bash Maltesers with a rolling pin and sprinkle generously over it. Jamie Oliver one.

This is delicious and very easy!
I only finely grate the lemon for decoration on top of a thicker layer of lemon curd, and use half ginger nuts, half digestives.

You, my little beauty! That sounds beautiful!!! Guess I'm going shopping tomorrow.

I'm a competent cook but not great at pastry from scratch. There are multiple things I make with a pre-cooked, sweet pastry base. For 10, I'd be inclined to take 2 things along:

-Salted caramel tart. Pour tin of nestle caramel in base, sprinkle some salt on the top. Melt chocolate and apply a thin layer over the top- refrigerate.
-Passionfruit tart https://www.recipes.com.au/recipe/passionfruit-tart
-https://www.recipetineats.com/lemon-tart/
-The passionfruit and lemon tarts can both be turned in meringue versions too https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/ultimate-lemon-meringue-pie
-Chocolate tart. I've made this several times and just had a slice from the one I made this Christmas. I serve with a sprinkling of icing sugar and whole berries, or a coulis (pureed berries) and cream. https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/chocolate/simple-chocolate-tart/

Mary berry’s Bakewell tart (but use ready made pastry. Travels well and always a winner!

Another one. Soak ginger biscuits in liqueur and arrange in a line then whip double cream and spread over whole lot. Slice diagonally.

My mum used to make this in the 70s! I've made it for a dinner party and topped with fresh raspberries and dark chocolate curls/shards - delicious! If you want to make it non-boozy, you can use orange juice instead of liqueur.

Treacle sponge with custard is lush.
The Good food easy recipe is great. You just use golden syrup and stale bread and lemon for the bottom part and a traditional sponge on top.

You could do one with jam instead. Or a chocolate one with chocolate powder in the batter and melted chocolate and choc spread in the filling.

Or bread and butter pudding. You can use the ambrosia cartons of luxury custard and apricot preserve and sultanas with brioche or croissants.

Greedy model chocolate mousse! Serve with raspberries and a pinch of salt

That sounds lovely and perfect as an adult dessert. I'm going to have to look that one up.

The only recipe I can find is with bananas but my aunt who made it didn’t use bananas. I guess it’s just replacing cream or milk or simply adding Baileys.

Londonmummy66 · 29/12/2025 21:54

A Christmas version of Eton Mess. So broken meringues (homemade or bought). 2 cartons of double or whipping cream whipped to soft peaks with orange zest. Figs macerated in the liquid from a jar of stem ginger, plus a littel stem ginger and a carton of pomegranate seeds. Transport all separately and then just before the main course nip into the kitchen and mix together the meringue pieces, orange cream, figs and ginger. Top with the pomegranate seeds.

whyexactlythough · 29/12/2025 21:55

I make lemon meringue with one of those sponge flan cases.

It's so easy!

Just follow the recipe for lemon meringue without the pastry and then bake it on the sponge

GellerYeller · 29/12/2025 22:02

Banoffee pie:
Biscuit base
Spread Dulce de leche or tinned Carnation toffee on top.
Top with sliced bananas. If you want it Christmassy flambé them in rum first.
Top with whipped cream and grated dark chocolate or chocolate curls.

Make a tiramisu! Everyone loves tiramisu. Plenty of recipes online.

IwishIwasapigeon · 29/12/2025 22:11

These are all great. Not sure which to choose though!
