To panic - any dentists on here?

Had an accident out running on Christmas Day- face planted into concrete. Body healing but really worried about my front teeth. I think I was knocked out because I remember them being pushed towards roof of my mouth and me pushing them back which I can't believe happened. Anyway, they don't hurt now but definitely can't bite on them and very 'aware' of them if that makes sense. I feel they are slightly wobbling. I have booked a dentist appt but next week is the earliest they can see me. I am just terrified I'm going to lose my front teeth. Any idea how a dentist might fix this?

I think they can splint the teeth to other non loose ones until it heals. I'm not a dentist btw.

Don't worry, people fall and injury their front teeth a lot. I'm sure they'll have a solution. It's not like they've fully come out.

That sounds really scary op. I'm not a dentist but something similar happened to me a while back and the trauma caused my front tooth to die. I had to have a root canal/crown.

Are there any emergency dentists near you who could see you sooner? Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious 💐

Thank you! I have pretty good teeth and have spent years taking care of them. To think I could lose them because I tripped is just horrid!

My DH tripped and faceplanted and knocked out both top front teeth. That was many years ago when young (and not entirely sober). He had crowns fitted and 30 years later they still look fine and don't cause any problems. Try not to worry too much, it'll be fixable.

Given your description it's quite likely you will need root canal treatments (any trauma that causes significant movement can cut off the blood supply and the pulp dies) but quite unlikely you will lose the teeth. Your dentist will run tests to see if the nerve is currently alive or not, and if alive, repeat those tests in the future, as the nerve can take months to die. If dead, you need RCT to prevent/limit discolouration and infection.

Or you may get lucky and they will settle back into place and nerve stays alive! Fingers crossed for you
