AIBU? teething and temperature

My little boy ( 19 months ) has a temp of around 38.2, I only took it because I brought a new thermometer (Braun thermos can 7+) with a boots voucher for Christmas.

Long story short, I had Flu in October and my old one gave me a different number even though I knew I had a fever, so I thought let’s be practical.

I used it just cos it was new and my eldest kids wanted to ‘beep their ears’ - but my youngest 19 months was 38.4, which came down to 38.2… my husbands alarm bells were ringing ‘is he poorly?’ But truthfully, he’s not hot to the touch- I wouldn’t have taken his temp if I hadn’t brought this today.

his fingers are in his mouth 24/7 chopping on his gums & that’s about it.

AIBU to put this down to teething? My husband says I am! 🙄

Even if he is coming down with something, a temperature in itself isn't a concern. If he's well in himself and taking on fluids you'd ride it out anyway.

My thoughts entirely, my husband has health anxiety due to a health scare so I do get it - but with his hands in his mouth 24/7 due to teething, his body is probably fighting little bouts of bacteria anyway.

it’s come down to 37.9-38.0 on its own, so I’m adamant it’s teething mixed with the fact he has been climbing, running, jumping etc.

It depends why it matters if that make sense? If you are thinking should he see a doctor, then a slight temp while he's teething doesn't warrant that. If you are thinking can you go and see some frail old relatives tomorrow, I probably wouldn't on the off chance that your son is fighting off flu very effectively, but it puts the frail relatives in hospital.

This reminds me of the old saying GPs regurgitate - treat the child, not the fever.
