Beat maker teenage son

Got him a beat maker machine for Christmas. He's coveted one for the whole of this year. He's 14 and wants to start making beats.
Gave it to him on Christmas dsy and he was over the moon with it. Turns out it's not compatible to use with our Chromebook.
Looked into what to do and from what I can find online, it looks like I would need to buy software costing £500 to make the beat maker machine work on a Chromebook? I can't afford to do this.
I feel like this is a niche topic, but does anyone on here have a teenager who has a beat maker machine and can advise me?
Is there a beatmaker machine that can be used on a Chromebook without having to buy £500 software to adapt the beatmaker to the Chromebook?
I'm so out of my depth here with no clue about beatmakers or what I need to do. I thought it was just a case of plugging it in to Chromebook and DS would be able to make beats and music on it.
I didn't know having a Chromebook would be an obstacle to using it.
Meanwhile DS can't play on it. It was his only Christmas present.

What a shame. Did it not come with a download code for Ableton Live Lite?

Google suggests you can use some browser options..I've pasted it's advice...

Browser-Based Options for Novation Launchpad

These options run directly in the Google Chrome browser and should be compatible with your Launchpad's MIDI capabilities.

Novation Launchpad Arcade: This is an official Novation web application designed for performance and exploration of loops. It's not a full DAW but allows you to get started making music immediately and is recommended for use in Chrome. It supports light shows and comes with an extensive loop library.

BandLab: A popular, free online music creation platform that offers a multi-track editor and collaborative features. It is a good option for a more traditional DAW-like experience within the browser.

Soundtrap: Another web-based DAW that works well on Chromebooks and is known for its intuitive interface and collaborative capabilities.

Thank you, that's so lovely of you.
But I think these are software programmes you can use to make beats/music. I don't think they're to use with the beatmaker machine I've bought to make it compatable with my Chromebook. That's if I'm understanding correctly. Which I fully admit im struggling to do here!
Sorry. SP and nobody else to ask. Thank you for answering.

Potentially, it might be possible to use a Windows emulator on the Chromebook to run the software that the beat maker needs.

However, emulators generally run quite slowly and it might not be good enough.

They can also be technically difficult to set up.

If you do try an emulator, make sure you use one with good feedback and from a reputable source

The beat maker is called a Novation launchpad and the Google suggestions I copied say "These options run directly in the Google Chrome browser and should be compatible with your Launchpad's MIDI capabilities." So I think they might work, why not have a go and cross your fingers?

I'm a lone parent too and have lost evenings to being my sons tech support! It's very stressful. I'm better on tech than I am on broken bike chains etc though!

@LorenzoCalzone oh gosh, thank you so much for your posts! Right I'm going to make myself a cup of tea and watch watch that youtube video!! Amazingly helpful of you, thank you!
I'm so horrendously bad with tech, I'm embarrassed on behalf of my teenager!!😅
