How do you factor exercise into your life?

Predictably dull but my New Year’s resolution is to really try and make time to exercise next year. I’m approaching 40 and feel the need to try and look after myself a little better and future proof my body! The problem is I hate exercise, I always have. And I’m busy with work, kids etc so I just don’t have the time and/or motivation. I do walk a fair bit. I take my dog each day and also try and walk on my lunch break. But that’s it.
At home I have a treadmill and some dumb bells. If I aim to do half an hour on the treadmill everyday and some weights a few times a week would that be a good starting point? I have no clue where to begin or if this would even be worthwhile but I feel like I have to do something. Also have some resistance bands.

Find a class with an instructor you warm to and block book it.

I’ve found skipping has worked for me. I built up slowly (e.g. 30 seconds skipping, 30 seconds rest for 10 mins) and worked up from there. If you don’t have over head space to skip you can buy weighted hand held things so you feel like you’re skipping. It worked for me because I put on music and sort of dance skipped. You can also squeeze it in to any part of your day. Of course, you have to be motivated to exercise, which is no mean feat, but it removed a lot of barriers for me. I was time starved and it just fitted in somehow.
Good luck, wanting to do something is a positive start.

I HATE exercise I'm afraid, and if I plan to do it in the evening I spend all day dreading it! If someone has an answer I'm all ears. Too rushed in the morning, no time in the evening, but if I really wanted to do it I would.

Do a 5 min Lucy Wyndham Read exercise video every morning. Yes it’s only 5 mins but it’s a lot better than nothing and will stack up over time. Most people can grit their teeth to get through 5 mins.
