My daughter is 6 she had one verruca 3 months ago...
That's now still there on one foot and she has another EIGHT on the other.
I'm at my wits end, I've tried wartie plasters, bazuca extra strength, currently just putting physio tape over them and I've bought some zinc to take which should help.

They're hurting her although I'm not sure how much she screams when I look at them sometimes. I just want them gone for her.

So AIBU that there should be a cure for these little buggers by now 😭

You can get them frozen with liquid nitrogen. Try Gp, if no luck - a private dermatologist.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 27/12/2025 22:53

I used boots own freezing stuff on my dc. Works a treat.

Myfridgeiscool · 27/12/2025 22:56

I read about using apple cider vinegar on here a few years ago. Worked a treat!

LR47 · 27/12/2025 22:59

Paint over them liberally with black nail varnish. Leave this on until it starts to tickle (usually 48 hours) then when you peel it off, the verrucas lift out with the nail varnish and leave little ‘holes’ which then clear up on their own. Works every time. I’ve tried other dark colours but they’ve never been as successful as black nail varnish. It was a tip from a GP friend!

Codyrhodesisaheel · 27/12/2025 23:01

Pay for a visit to a foot specialist. I had two on my feet for yonks. Three sessions and they disappeared. I think the first diagnosis session was about £40 and the follow up appointments about £25. You should have a local foot clinic near you

Mynicename · 27/12/2025 23:02

My son had them aged 5 - both feet absolutely covered in them and we tried all topical treatments to no avail. Then he had his chicken pox vaccine and they went away within a month!
He got them again from age 12 for months and months - again no topical treatments worked. Then he had his HPV vaccine and yup, all gone within a month!
Not sure what studies there have been on it but I believe an immune response is what gets rid of them and the timing of the vaccines he had are no coincidence!!
If your DD hasn't had chicken pox yet then maybe try getting the vaccine?!

Clairey1986 · 27/12/2025 23:06

Go and see a podiatrist. The best treatment is needling which exposes the immune system to the virus that causes them and lets your body fight them - and lasts forever.

CymruChris · 27/12/2025 23:17

Banana skin worked a treat for us previously, and very recently my nephew who had 2 whoppers and his mum had been trying with over the counter stuff for months.
We did it like this:
After evening bath/shower - cut a piece of banana skin enough to cover the verruca.
Put the banana skin wet side onto verruca and cover with a plaster.
Change every evening.
One day we pulled the banana skin off and the roots of the verruca came with it! Left a hole which then healed up nicely.
Took about a week!

I have used neat lemon juice, three times a day in the past on warts and verrucas. It shifted every single one of them in about a fortnight or just over. No pain whatsoever. The poster who suggested vinegar is probably thinking down the same lines, with them both being acidic.

Helpforsummer · 28/12/2025 12:43

Thanks for all of these tips. I've taken her to a podiatrist who called them down and applied acid but said for kids they don't do a lot.

GP won't freeze them (too many anyway)

I so frustrating 😭

I think I'm going to try this first! And work my way through the rest if we have no luck lol

Trying boosting her immune response alongside the treatment.

You've said you've used the topical stuff but do you file them as well? Yes it hurts so honestly I'd try bribery aswell to get through it. You've got to get the body to attack them.

(Please note this is not a recommendation... but I got rid of one as a teen with a blade from a pencil sharpener. So physically attacking it. Definitely do not recommend this. But again, it got my body to realise it was there)

SendTheNextOneIn · 28/12/2025 12:56

Tea tree oil worked for us. I cut a cotton wool pad into a small bit, add a couple of drops of tea tree oil and put it over the verruca with a plaster over the top. Repeat every night with a fresh one. We got rid of a verruca on my youngest’s toe in a couple of weeks with this. You just have to be consistent.

In contrast, my eldest had so many warts on her fingers for a good couple of years and absolutely nothing would shift them. We tried everything. It’s defo an immune system thing as one day she noticed they were just gone. She hated them though and felt so self conscious of them, so I was so happy when they just disappeared by themselves.

Datchydoo · 28/12/2025 12:57

Watching this thread. DD has had verrucas for years, and they are spreading badly. I have tried everything over the counter, and have visited a podiatrist a number of times for more intensive treatment - but no success and more verrucas are forming. Am also going to try nail polish!

Myfridgeiscool · 28/12/2025 13:50

The apple cider vinegar worked after about 4 days.

I think this is half of the problem - she won't let me near them and screams like a banshee even when I'm looking at them 🙈

I've got some zinc coming tomorrow to try after googling myself into a black hole lol

What did you do with it just put it on a plaster?

I bought scalpels and did home surgery on mine, but I wouldn't advise that for an 8yr old.
It was the only thing that worked though after 20 years of trying everything else.

Go somewhere else. My podiatrist froze them for my 7 year old and that was the only thing that worked. We also tried everything, it was exhausting. I filed every evening like an idiot and nothing changed.

What did you do with it just put it on a plaster?

Soaked a tiny piece of toilet roll in the vinegar, put it over the verruca and put a plaster over the top to hold it in place.
I honestly couldn’t believe how well it worked. Did it at bedtime, after a few nights it just fell off.

PoptartPoptart · 28/12/2025 15:38

Get some Salactol from Boots. It contains salicylic and lactic acids, which break down the keratin in the affected skin area and kill the virus that causes warts or verrucas.
I had a verrucca for 2 years and had tried everything, including freezing etc. Salactol worked within a week.

This. When my child had a verruca I saw the nail polish trick on mumsnet and it worked!!

This !

I already have and they won't treat a 6yo - only scalpel the skin down and put the acid on 😭
